Dr.Capstick is a highly competent Physician. She is super knowledgeable and really comforting while being straight to the point and factual. Her staff is equally as amazing, they really prioritize patient centred care.

Dr. Capstick is most likely highly competent in her role but I agree with other posts that she does seem to judge overweight people. I felt like I had been judged for my weight but wondered if I was just being sensitive. After reading previous reviews I realize that my gut reaction was right- she did not treat me with the dignity I deserved. I’m not sure why some physicians don’t realize we don’t choose to be overweight- that we have often battled years to lose weight and are not just disgusting people who eat too much. I seriously believe physicians should have to attend sensitivity training to hear from overweight people the stigma they face in society and the emotional trauma that occurs from it. I hope Dr. Capstick reads her reviews to improve her bedside manner. Again most likely a highly competent physician so I still count myself lucky to see her.

Dr. Capstick was knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I have weight to lose but she wasn’t rude and didn’t berate me for it. She is to the point and I appreciate that. I truly feel she has a good beside manner and I’m glad I’m in her care.

I wish I would have read through these comments before seeing Dr. Capstick. It is clear that she is a fatphobic doctor who would rather see her patients die than treat them. I am in my 30’s and was also diagnosed with endometrial cancer. Like a previous poster shared, she sent me away and told me I needed to lose 50lbs in 72 days by doing a liquid diet. I’m almost 6 feet and yes, I am overweight; however, I am not obese to the point of treatment not working. She told me that being “big” caused my cancer and that she is recommending to take my ovaries too since I should have enough estrogen to keep my body going since I’m so big.

She sent me home and when I tried the liquid diet, I became so unwell that I couldn’t do my job or parent my children. I felt like absolute garbage. I quit the diet and just began going on more walks and watching what I ate. When she called to check in, she was not happy that I hadn’t lost the weight and she told me my hysterectomy was cancelled and that I could wait another couple of months to get the weight off. When I say I lost my mind - I lost it. I wanted to be clear that if I died, it was being she wouldn’t treat me due to my weight.

She then stated that she would transfer me to another oncologist and I was beyond thankful for that. When I say this lady made me feel worse about myself in the worst moment of my life - that’s an understatement. She has the bedside manner of a night stand and I do not understand why anyone gets referred to her.

Wonderful physician. Been seeing her for the past 3 years at the cross after a diagnosis or cervical cancer. She’s very calming, knowledgeable and has a wonderful bedside manner. The front desk lady is super kind and efficient as well. If you were referred to her and are looking on here to do research. You are in great hands with this doctor.

I have seen Dr Capstick since 1995 every six months to a year. In those 26/years never has she ever been rude. She has always put a smile on my face the minute I see her.Dr Capstick is a no nonsense doctor who gets right to the point, thinks outside the box,,treats you as soon as possible and is a will respected doctor in her field. She is one of the greats and I wouldn’t be writing this if not for her. Since I will be going to Cross for many more years I pray she does not retire soon.through all my 63 years I have dealt with a lot of doctors none compare to her. One of the best for bedside manners and procedures .

She explained things in medical terms so I had to ask her to repeat in layman terms so I could understand. I long wait but worth it.

Dr Capstick is ill prepared and cruel. Without introduction or any other comment, the first thing she said to me was “you only have cancer because you’re fat, so you brought this on yourself”. Fortunately, my husband was with me and stepped in as my patient advocate because her comment was a true gut punch. She had decided to not treat me until I went home and lost some weight and that she would consider treatment in 3 to 6 months if I was successful My husband inquired about the cyst on my ovary. She argued that there was no cyst, it hadn’t shown up in the ultrasound. The resident spoke up and stated that my uterus was so large that the ovaries couldn’t be seen in the ultrasound...which told me she hadn't properly reviewed the ultrasound report. She obviously hadn’t reviewed the CT scan results either...the one that she chastised my OB/GYN for sending me to. She had written a multi-page letter to my OB/GYN telling her that CT scans at this stage we’re inappropriate and that she should have treated me herself in the small town we live in rather than referring me to the Cross (my Dr showed me the ridiculous letter but would not give me a copy because she feared I would be denied treatment if I had raised a complaint before my cancer had been treated). Fortunately I had a copy of the radiologist report for the CT scan and read her the results. She asked if she could have the report. I told her she could make a copy. She obviously knew the test results existed because she wrote the nasty letter, but hadn’t even bothered to review the information provided. Upon returning to the exam room after disappearing to read the report, she said she would have to have her own radiologist review the scans. Her last comment was to ask if I was still taking iron pills. This puzzled me because my blood tests indicated that my iron levels were excellent. She quoted a value for a blood test from months before the appointment and not my most recent tests, further indicating that she had not bothered to actually review all of my test results before the appointment. Dr Capstick is a truly awful doctor and not much of a person either. Happily, she was “not available” for my further treatment and my case was assigned to another oncologist. I wonder how many women put up with her abuse or were denied care because they didn’t have the knowledge or a patient advocate to question her treatment. How many women have suffered or died because she did not see them as worth treating. It turned out that my cancer was stage 3A and had spread to both Fallopian tubes, my cervix, and one ovary...and she was going to send me home to lose weight instead of have treatment. I would give her zero stars if I could and burn her medical licence.
