I absolutely Love Dr. Barbour. It's been a little while since my appointment with her, but only recently found this site. She listened and was extremely knowledgable. I felt the most comfortable in her presence. I also had a phone appointment a few months ago with her. Both times she was so very gracious and understanding. Thank you for your dedicated service Dr. Barbour.

Lack of knowledge and understanding of what a hypoestrogenic state can cause plus a severe conflict of interest with an investigation regarding a mental health misdiagnosis by Andre Piver MD based on a 13 year old assessment by an anethiolgist that obviously had no academic degree in pshychology or if he did, he missed the boat. Depair is totally different than depression. And so is abusive destructive relationships. Incorrect medical caused a major operation, being prescribed Provera in attempts to stop ovarian cysts, and not knowing about side effects and overlooking the side efects. It was a procedure that caused a hysterectomy, then hypoestrogen state, then Piver comes along and make a dignosis of manic depressive illness knowing full well that thyroid is in hyperthyroid stae, prescribes lithium that causes TSh levels to go haywire then a hypothyoid states develops. A complaint is made about the misidagnosis at nelson mental health and Dr. Barbour now employed there to diagnose refferred patienst states in writing, why should I have considered Pivers diagnosis? She wanted the same diagnosis 13 years prior. this is the stupidity of allowing idiots in the menatal health services. that destroy peoples lives in a blink of an eye then walk away and don't even remeber the client or the life they destroyed.

Dr. Barbour was most insightful in diagnosing my problem, did prompt testing (hospital work), and found a much more serious issue than I originally thought.
She is terrific , has many years of experience and takes time to listen , ask questions, and at no
time did I feel rushed. A person who I now know does care about treating people. No pills were pushed on me at any time. Thank you Dr. Barbour- I would like you to be my doctor from now on. Cheers,dk

I saw Dr.Barbour at a walk-in clinic after battling a nasty cold for 2 weeks. She was thorough in her examination and didn't just push antibiotics on me. She gave me some natural alternatives to start with and gave me a prescription to fill if my symptoms did not go away within the next few days. She could see that I've been battling an infection and that it was getting better. I totally appreciated her open mind and her explanation of how my symptoms are affecting each other, as well as telling me what to watch out for the next few days to decide whether or not I should take the antibiotics. Finally a doctor that takes time to discuss your health, instead of grunting and handing you a prescription.

Dr. Barbour had no knowledge of PTSD. I was a battered wife and had finally left the marriage. But suffered with PTSD. Also compounded with hyper hyperthyroidism. Dr. Barbour wrote a letter to Nelson Mental Health to a employee of this clinic wanting a strong assessment for axis personalty disorder. A sad and tragic error. This was in 1984. By the late 1990's the same lack of understanding of PTSD compounded with hyperthyroidism led to a misdiagnosis by DR. Andre Piver employed at Nelson Mental Health and Addictions. Due to this my health was impacted severely from being prescribed a combination of drug therapy. Another severe systemic problem in the mental health care system provided by the government is most of the employees are social workers who are called therapists, even named psychotherapists. Be warned. Nelson Mental Health, ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK.

All good comments must have been written by her or her staff. Must of found her degree in a box of Honeycomb Cereal. Needs a book every time. Enough said!

All round excellent service. She listens and answers all questions, refers to specialists and does tests as required. She and her staff are most helpful and have created a warm atmosphere in the office. I have had some difficult health issues which were compassionately dealt with and successfully treated.

my daughter has a medical condition called gastropareses and this doctor insisted she had an eating disorder. has caused us a lot of problems and that label still comes up even though my daughter has gone through major surgery to correct her physical conditon. if she would have listened to us my daughter could have gotten the help she needed and would probably been fine today. My daughter is tube feeding 13 hours a day to stay alive. this doctor has a closed mind and doesn't listen

We recently moved to Slocan Park from Vancouver and were lucky enough to get Dr. Barbour. My mother who is 80 and has had ongoing health issues since our move has been getting excellent care and service from Dr. Barbour and her staff. The doctor has called me at home several times to check on my mom's condition which was most appreciated.
