Very untrustworthy. He denied nerve damage to my ankle even though he is the one who identified it prior. Denied CRPS even though he was the one to make the diagnosis and send me to pain specialists. He consistently lied in his medical notes. He made statements and claims that were false. He charged my insurance for procedures he did not due , such as setting a fracture in my foot. Do not trust what he tells you in the office. He is very quick to deny what was said.

Dr Hasselman is a great doctor. He cares about his patients. He goes above and beyond in order to find out the reason for a foot problem and then fixes it.

In 2016 I fell ,Dr Hasselman had me in a boot for 9 months then decided to do surgery in which he was 4 hours late and when I woke up he had a cane.. Who performed my surgery? He had been off due to personal issues for a long time, it seems like he should not have came back to work.. I still could not walk after the 1st surgery he sent me to 5 other Orthopedic Surgeons for their opinions. They said I needed additional surgery.. I let Doctor Hasselman perform a allograft surgery on my foot and sent me to PT..after for11/2 years, I still couldn't walk..He then again wanted to send me to other Orthopedic Surgeons. They stated I needed another surgery..He was very rude and said he didn't acknowledge the problem..He didn't want to do a another surgery because he has so many redues..He comes into the room ,no computer no chart, no xrays...What a disaster..The staff is not professional, poor management. I wouldn't advise anyone to pick this surgeon, He doesn't need to be performing surgeries..

5 minute, perfunctory examination. followed by surgery during which additional, undiscussed, unnecessary surgical procedures were performed that resulted in ever-worsening foot deformity.

...after 10 years of suffering and being told I simply had to live with arthritis in my big toe joint, Dr. Hasselman has me back on the road to triathlon training. I’m only upset that I can no longer go to this practice because of the awful feud between Highmark and UPMC. I’d never go anywhere else for my orthopedic needs.

Best doctor I've ever had period! I've been a patient of his for over ten years and have experienced his professionalism and great knowledge and skill. He cares about people. He has helped me greatly. For the disappointed few , not every medical procedure is flawless. I had the exact bunion procedure as well as tendon and ligament surgery by Dr. Hasselman and my results were exceptional. He is very caring and always spent time explaining my condition. He is highly regarded in his field. I was sent to him by another foot orthopedist who could not handle complex issues. I was always given access to my medical tests such as X-rays and MRI's. He always explained everything to me. Dr. Hasselman is a realist and will tell you like it is, not what you may want to hear. No time for hand holding, but he will tell you what is going on and what can or cannot be done. He is a surgeon , but only recommends it if necessary. He will always be my favorite doctor because if it weren't for him, I would still be in so much pain!!!!
