I'm rather confused by all the negative reviews here given my incredible history with Dr. Di Maria. Dr DiMaria was my mother's doctor first and then took on my sister and I. Sadly, my sister died far too young of a very aggressive pancreatic cancer 10 years ago and my mother died of Alzheimers almost 2 years ago, but Dr. DiMaria's commitment to keeping me healthy is incredible and I'm so grateful to her. I'm a nervous white-coat phobic patient, but Dr. DiMaria's compassion and care of me is lovely. My experience with her has never been anything but positive. I've also had occasion to hear her staff speak kindly to patients who confuse the date or time of their appointment and as someone whose own mother had cognitive issues I'm impressed by that as well. I feel so lucky to be under Dr. Di Maria's care.

I have been a patient for 30 years and I have seen Dr. Di Maria from the beginning of her practice was started. I am very surprised by the comments lately left on her reviews as I think these are very far from the truth and felt I had to respond. She has always been a compassionate doctor going above what many doctors do for patients. I have never had any issues with her practice and if anything feel sorry for what she has to put up with - as an example I have witnessed some patients just dropping in and expecting to be seen ahead of the booked appointments. Appointments have always been great as I came in on time and would be seen within 15 minutes of the appointment time. She is a thorough doctor and is always careful in her diagnoses and will refer when needed. She will do the tests that I need. She has called me for results on weekends, as she has not time during the week. For the past year she hired an assistant that does lot of these calls regarding results and tests and I have calls from the assistant now and think she is great. I know for a fact that family practice has changed a lot and the older doctors that cannot be part of the new family health teams do not have the luxury of hiring nurses like some of the previous comments mentioned. Doctors do not earn as much $ as they say especially the ones that work like Dr. Di Maria. Her practice has become older like many practices have and I am sure many patients have become more complex like my own illness. I think she does a great job and always can see me within a week if asking for an appointment and she still provides phone calls which many doctors have stopped doing as they don't pay. I think the new staff are great - the phones are answered more than they ever were (especially more than the second floor office) and when they cannot answer they will promptly call back when I leave a voice message. I will be very sad the day she announces she will retire - I hope she will work for a long time to come.

Very unhappy here, and what’s worse is it’s impossible to find a family dr that is accepting new patients.
I’ve been resorting to walk in clinics more than I can see my own family doctor. I was quite patient with it in the beginning, and now it’s still an issue that I’m just tired. Im not one to complain, so it seems those that do get their way. Im sure she has her favourite patients that she goes out of her way for too.

Slowly over time this office has degraded terribly, for several reasons.

First off, The phone hours for the clinic have slowly declined over the past year, from 9-5, to 9-4, all the way to currently 9-1 are the only hours you can call into the clinic, are you kidding me?! Barry half a work day they answer phones, and the worst part? You can’t even leave them a message!!! It makes it nearly impossible to get a hold of them, and I’ve been resorting to walk in clinics more and more since she’s impossible to reach. Makes it very frustrating as she’s been my doctor ever since I’ve been alive really.

While she was an amazing doctor before the pandemic, it feels like the past two years have made this office worse and worse, and it’s really sad to see as when you can see her, she is a really good doctor.

Dr. DiMaria is an incredible doctor. She is very kind and caring, and does not hesitate to refer you or send you for more testing with any issues. She takes the time to listen and understand. I'm so grateful that she is my doctor!

I have been seeing her for over 20 years. She is definitely not the same doctor. It may be compassion fatigue, but it’s definitely time for her to retire. She just doesn’t seem to really care anymore.

I have been Dr. Di Maria’s patient for 31 years now. She is a wonderful doctor. She listens and genuinely cares. I never feel rushed and she makes sure to attend to all my problems. Her staff is extremely friendly and they always answer the phone. I am glad I have her as my doctor especially during this Pandemic. Not sure what I would do without her.

I have been a patient of hers for a while now, and I do truly like her. However, I’ve come to realization that there is a definite issue with the office flow and management - and it seems there always has been, but I’ve noticed it’s gotten worse with time. In regards to her old staff I was reading these previous reviews here and noticed many prior to 2018, people would always complain it was hard to get a hold of them or that they were cold/rude. I agree it was hard to get a hold of them, but I never had an issue with those ladies. I recognized they were busy. Her new office staff is great, and I’m wondering if it’s because it’s not two family physicians now, but again sometimes it’s hard to get a hold of the office as it’s busy and I can tell they look very overwhelmed.
I don’t think there was ever an issue with her old staff, it was just that they were overwhelmed with the amount of calls/people to attend to and it was just too much. So they had to be quick with people. I’ve worked in customer service for majority of my career and I know how much people expect/want and I cannot even imagine when it comes to health care. I think there is high demand there and they just don’t have the sufficient number of staff or time to deal. I saw many instances at her old office of people being rude to the ladies demanding things and wanting to be seen without an appointment.
I personally think Dr Di Maria is overworked unfortunately, and I wish she would take it easy and enjoy her life a little more.In the times I’ve seen her I have to remind her of things of my medical history or Ive noticed she seems quick and rushed with me. I think she took on too many patients! I’ve noticed she has a lot of older Italian speaking patients also, so I think she felt compelled to have them as her patients as it’s hard to find a family doctor, and even so one who is female and speaks Italian for that matter. Also I could imagine older patients are more complex in care and need to be dealt with more frequently. I hate to say this, but I think it’s time for her to retire very soon.

I’ve deciding to look around for a new doctor as I suspect I would need to eventually anyways.
