I saw Assoc Prof Abbott in 2011 after years of infertility, pain and gaslighting. He asked if I was finished having children, and then recommended a full hysterectomy. I was unsure but he reassured me advising ‘if you were my wife, I’d tell you to throw it (uterus) in the bin..you don’t need it) I had a hysterectomy and was in so much pain, which was ignored and told was normal. I was discharged and then readmitted 2 days later in agonsing pain due to a 10cm haematoma. He was arrogant and rude even on my post op visits. His bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired.

I saw him way back in 2019 but hes been getting lots of criticism on instagram so i felt less alone and finally want to speak up about it.

I had a terrible experience.

I was in so much pain that I could not leave bed, walking stick and wheelchair was needed, passing out, needing catheters to pass urine, blood in my bowels and so on.

I've never had excision, only ablation so i thought i needed and wanted excision to treat my pain and endometriosis.

He said it wasn't necessary and gave me antidepressants!

The worst thing was when he did an internal exam without any consent and I felt disgusting afterwards. I literally cried on the train home thinking about that moment.

He even opened the door before I could finish getting dressed!! How unprofessional. Literally had to finish getting dressed in the waiting room....

Finally saw a surgeon who was amazing and I had severe endometriosis!! All the way up to my one kidney, my bowels, cervix and I could honestly go on...

I think his "fame" and "popularity" is getting to his head and forgetting that there's people out there who actually need help but he doesn't seem to care. He's so unprofessional and rude.

I travelled from Canberra to Sydney to see Dr Abbott for my endometriosis in 2016. I had previously had day surgery done in 2006 but I was not falling pregnant.

I really was happy with my treatment every step of the way. The staff and hospital was great, the operation went well and 6 months later I was pregnant and now have 3 babies all naturally conceived.

I am very grateful for such help.

I traveled interstate to see Professor Abbott after see a number of specialist (Public / Private) in WA and he was a breath of fresh air, as his staff are helpful, polite and friendly, I found Professor Abbott is softly spoken, punctual, knowledgeable, caring and is prompt to follow -up in providing reports to yourself and GP.
I had been diagnosed with Endometriosis (stage 4) / Adenomyosis a few years ago and it took another 2 1/2 years before I met Professor Abbott who provide me the comfort and piece of mind to undergo a hysterectomy and endometriosis excision. I am 10 weeks post op and I don't even feel I have undergone a hysterectomy and excision for endometriosis. I would gladly recommend Professor Abbott.
