Waited a year to get into this doctor. He was polite at first and immediately upon telling him what I the problem was he said "I only deal with vision", he gave me a print out that he obviously gives to many people then said "I'm calling the Ministry to take your licence, you are at the wrong type of doctor". It ended up being a huge issue getting it back but easy to prove this Dr. was a quack!

Saw him to follow up of a surgery. No bedside manner. Do not dare to voice your concerns that are opposite to what he thinks or he will get offended. Said that I was given an option for the surgery which I would have not done it If full disclosure of possible ending results were given.

Same as one of the comments below:
I told him my vision was not good post-op.
He said surgery went well. Call your optometrist to get a prescription glasses.

Dr. Lou was so reassuring when we had my consultation. I was very anxious the morning of the procedure but the staff are a well oiled machine and take away all the anxiety. Dr. Lou puts on some music and starts chatting away and before you know it you’re done. He’s great at distracting as if it’s just another day…only it’s with him. I couldn’t wait to get the second eye done.
Thank you Dr. Lou.

Dr. Liu was so incredible during my son’s surgery!
He was thorough, attentive and humanized. Humanized in the sense that as parents, he heard our concerns and wasn’t a dismissive Dr. we felt heard and appreciated - he showed empathy and extreme care for our son. Post surgery our child had zero external swelling and minimal bleeding during surgery.
I would highly recommend him! Thank you Dr. Liu!

Only critique is his reception-the women when we called regarding surgery was very rude, short and not helpful. Our surgery was almost cancelled moments before because her mis-information and advice when we called a week prior (which we were supposed to do if any health in our son changed). I don’t even like writing this within the same review bc Dr Liu was so wonderful-but my advise is re-train your reception to match your (Dr Liu) bedside manner.

I was referred to Dr. Liu from a Southlake Emergency doctor. I got in the eye with a hockey stick and suffered two lacerations to my eye. One being directly in the plain of vision on my cornea. The blunt force of the stick also caused damage to the back of my eye requiring retina surgery. He cleared his afternoon to prepare for my emergency surgery. I sat in the waiting room for two hours while another former patient vented his frustration towards Dr. Liu for two hours about a mishandled case. When he finally brought me in, he vented to me for 15 minutes about how frustrated he was and how bad of a day he was having while I was clearly writhing in agonizing pain. He was incredibly rude towards me. He insulted hockey players telling me how dumb we are for 10 minutes. Then he impatiently and brusquely demanded that I open my eye (which I was unable to do due to the injury). He looked at my eye for maybe 30 seconds before misdiagnosing me with a slight scratch. He prescribed a battery of drops and a cream to apply and asked me back a week later. A week later, he doubled down on the rudeness and said I was fine. Apart from the brief eye assessment, he didn't look my direction once, barely gave me any information, and generally acted like I was a burden to him. I sought a second opinion and I'm glad I did. Three weeks later my vision still has not returned. I'm due to have retina surgery next week. The cut on my cornea has resulted in scarring permanently blurring my vision in the right eye. All of this could have been avoided with a proper diagnosis in the first place.

I have found the doctor and his staff to be efficient and effective and always on time. He may appear abrupt and harried but he knowledgable and competent and takes his work and his patients very seriously. A well-run practice over all.

Dr Liu has been treating me for 3 years for a potentially detaching retina. It has stabilized. Now I have a "mild" cataract. Consistently, he has been efficient, listening, thorough, and provides the appropriate advice with details about pros and cons about various options. I've rarely had to wait more than 10 minutes - very unusual for an ophthalmologist - which is deeply appreciated. Plus the office staff are helpful, fast, and everyone practices safe, healthy protocols for covid, etc.

The most unfriendly and abrasive staff at the front desk and testing!!!! Dr. Liu himself may be bright but he has NO bedside manner, almost to the point of rudeness. In/Out of exam room, no chance for questions. Would not recommend to others.

I was referred to Dr Eugene Liu back in December 2021, required cataract surgery.
I was given an appointment date of December 2022. I had to wait one year.
I phoned regularly to see if I could get in any sooner. No was the response.
After a year of waiting I wanted to be sure what lenses he would be able to provide , nothing
But the regular lens even though I was willing to pay extra for any lens that would improve my vision.
He said he would not recommend anything further as I would have double vision.?………
But he did charge me another $125.00 to tell me that.
Had right eye done in December 2022 and left eye done January 2023.
Had my post surgery exam today. He was very abrupt,
I told him my vision was not good.
He said surgery went well.
Call your optometrist get a prescription for glasses.
He doesn’t care, he is onto the next poor unsuspecting patient.
Regret waiting 12 months for such a disappointing result.
I will mention to my friends to never go to Dr. E. Liu
Funny review I read below someone said he was a great Dentist LOL
Maybe his dentist skills are better.
