Dr. Chu saved my husband's life several months ago. He had severe constrictive pericarditis and also had 3-vessel bypass surgery done at the same time. Dr. Chu is a very patient, calm, professional surgeon, who has given my husband his life back!!!! He is the BEST!

On Feb I was rushed to Hamilton General Hospital where I first met Dr Chu. He very calmly told me I would need open heart surgery to valve repair, and repair to my aorta, and correct an anneurism and removal of blood around my heart. I was left with only one option and the surgery began. It also took two blood transfusions and 8 1/2 hours of incredible surgery. I truly owe my life to Dr Chu and his support team that gave me back my life and family that day. I will be forever grateful to Dr Chu when he overcame incredible odds to complete this task starting at 3 am on Feb 11/2010. Our health system is very lucky to have Dr Chu available for heart procedures today. When I see him again I will hug him and thank him once again. Paul Kretz Burlington,Ontario

Dr. Chu operated on my wife on March 29/10.He replaced her aortic valve and did an ablation.He did an amazing job.During the surgery a nurse came out and reported on her progress and after Dr. Chu came out and talked to us and explained what he had done and what to expect.It was very reassuring.We felt from the first time we met Dr. Chu that he was extremely professional and had a lot of confidence in him which was proven right.Thank you Dr. Chu and all the caring people at Hamilton Health Sciences Peter Overdevest

Dr. Chu saved and changed my husband's life. He repaired one valve, replaced another valve, one by pass and tried to stop the fibrillation. His caring manner and professionalism were exemplary. Hamilton is lucky to have such a wonderful skilled doctor. Thank you Dr. Chu!!

Two years and counting, since I received what I thought were news that would end my life. In discussing those news prior to an "urgent" surgery, Dr. Chu spoke to me giving facts and risks while passing positive confidence. Sure, there are risks, but he calmly, positively asserted: "I will do my best considering what is necessary". Later I heard that his great attitude was also felt by my wife, brother and friends after the surgery was done, as he came out to talk to them. Three months later when I went for the follow-up, still feeling a little unsure about how I would progress, I asked him what to do when the problem reappears. In the same calm, smily manner as before he said "we do it again". Today I feel better than I ever felt. To those who are pondering about their surgery and read this, I say: give Dr. Chu the knife and he'll know what to do.

Dr. Chu saved my husbands life. That care aside, he also had an amazing ability to calm an anxious family. I will never forget Dr. Chu and will always be eternally grateful that I have my husband and my little boy has his daddy because of Dr. Chu.

Dr. Chu saved my husband's life when no other doctors were willing to take a risk to operate on him. The doctor in Toronto who does all the difficult cases in Ontario just threw up his hands because my husband had a lot of complications and a previous triple. Dr. Chu operated, did another triple and some other difficult challenging work and now my husband has a new lease on life. It has been five weeks since his surgery and he keeps getting better and better. If you are at the stage of giving up be assured that Dr. Chu has wonderful skills. You are in the best hands with Dr. Chu. Be confident because he is the best.
