He has replaced both hips and so far right knee, hopefully left done in January. Highly recommend.

My wife was very fortunate to be under his supervision after her ankle fracture. Best experience we had ever in hospital with very professional care of the doctor and his nurse. Thank you.

I saw Dr. Gretahun at the Fracture Clinic and despite the reports that radiologists have given expressing great concern of a complicated post-op infection needing urgent orthopedic attention, he took one look at my white blood cell count and as this one metric wasn't concerning to him he told me I did not have an infection and sent me home. He was very dismissive and wouldn't even look at the other imaging and reports I had or listen to my history. He presented as friendly-ish but was arrogant and truly did not care for patients struggling.

Dr. Getahun did not make any attempt to know or remember me. I timed his post surgery patients visits with him the time was 3 minutes each. I had great difficulty with my knee post-op. He did not show any concern. After 3 visits, 3 months apart each, he told me I didn't have to return. I mentioned that i wanted to return to ballroom dancing which Dr. A. Hawryluk and his wife introduced me to and it became an important part of my life. He said well , com back in another 3 months. When I returned for my 12 month visit, Dr. Getahun moved my knee and asked : 'So what's it been, 3 months now?' I replied that it had been a year. He said well there is nothing that can be done surgically. I had faithfully done my exercises given to me by the office as well as many others which I looked up on-line. I attend physio through what OHIP covered as well as private physio. Though Dr. Getahun is friendly enough and a well presented gentleman whom would be very nice to know in a social setting, I did not feel he was caring or empathetic at all and I question whether he did the best for me during surgery. I will never know.

Judging by the mechanical results of the operation dr Getahun is a very good orthopedic surgeon but doesn't seem to be interested in the post operational care in the hospital like, at least in my case, leaving it to an obviously incompetent ward physician, or patient's problems with prescribed medications (evident and pretty severe allergic reactions, nota bene widely described in the medical literature )

What a great Dr. Recently underwent TKR with Dr Getahun and I couldn't be happier. I am walking without assistance after only three weeks. Maybe you negative nellies failed to follow his aftercare instructions. He will surely be doing my right knee and then hips as soon as I am able

I was fortunate to have Dr. Getahun perform my hip replacement. He is compassionate, very knowledgeable and provides an exceptional level of care. I have referred multiple family members who will require his assistance and care.
