I am currently in the process of scheduling surgery to have my thyroid removed and tested for cancer.Dr Kauffman was my Dr for 6 years.In those 6 years he only had me get one ultra sound.After repeatedly telling him that the lump in my throat was not going away and only having my medicine adjusted I sought a 2nd opinion.My current Dr told me Dr Kauffman should have had routine ultra sounfs performed every year. There is a 20% chance I could have cancer. This could have been caught sooner had he done the ultra sounds. I have also heard of 2 other of his patients who sought out 2nd opinions and are now battling stage 4 cancer.

My endocrinologist retired so I decided to see Dr. Kauffman. The first visit I had was about two minutes long and he acted like he didn't have time for my questions. He told me to abruptly stop my thyroid medication which led me to have severe heart palpitations and chest pains. The office did not return my calls in a timely manner but when they did they said the doctor prescribed me something for my palpitations and that I can take up to four pills a day. I took ONE pill in the morning before work. At work I felt dizzy and was still having chest pain. My pulse dropped below 40 (the average is between 60-100 beats per minute) and I was taken out of work in an ambulance and hospitalized for a week. When I went to Dr. Kauffman's office to pick up my records, he told me that I had no reason to be upset. He screamed in my face that I overreacted. He doesn't have any bedside manner or respect for his patients. I would not recommend him at all.
