My dad would not be alive today if it weren't for Dr. M Courtney. Brilliant man!

Dr. Courtney has been my Dad's Dr after he had a kidney removed several years ago, Dad was 82. Annually he ensures that my dads remaining kidney is continuing to function as expected. He has my Dad go for regular blood work throughout the year. If something arises he would call him sooner than his yearly visit. Dr Courtney is very professional, clear, concise, happy to answer all questions. His office is also fantastic if you need to call.

Dr Courtney was very pleasant he. Took the time to explain things in a way that I could understand and was very thorough in his assessment he took his time and spent c45 minutes with me

Dr Mark Courtney is hands down the best nephrologist we have ever had the honour of being treated by.
He actually makes time for his patients, he listens to them, he helps them out and he cares for them as human beings, and not just a number. He is very respectful to family members too.
His knowledge is beyond belief, but if he is unsure about anything the patient asks, he will make sure he finds out the answer and lets the patient know.
He makes the dialysis experience less scary with words of comfort and real life stories.
All in all, if you are lucky enough to have Dr Courtney as your nephrologist, you are in good hands.

Dr. Courtney is an exceptional nephrologist. He is very kind, caring & compassionate doctor. Dr. Courtney always takes time to listen & address any concerns. He never hesitates to consult with colleagues if there are issues outside his expertise of nephrology & is always done in a timely fashion. Dr. Courtney’s professionalisms is outstanding. If you meet him in the corridor in the hospital he will acknowledge you & ask how you are doing. Dr. Courtney takes interest in your entire well being & super resourceful in directing you to other supports/programs. Dr. Courtney is an awesome doctor & friend. We also share personal family adventures. Many thanks for your outstanding care. You are the Best Dr. Courtney!!! 🤗

As a long time patient of Dr. Courtney I know this man to be an excellent physician, always concerned for the well being of his patients, His ability to communicate in a kind and direct manner, his extensive experience and knowledge is amazing, his ability to not only listen but actually hear and understand patient concerns and questions is so important. By the way he also has a good sense of humor! I trust this man completely to do the best he can for me and to give me the best advice possible whenever I need it.

I dialized at the UofA for nearly 2 years and Dr. Courtney was so great. I didn't even want to see the other nephrologists. He was always interested on where I was standing on the transplant list. If I didn't know what was going on he ALWAYS took the time to look into it.

I'm a little shocked that anyone would call this doctor "appallingly rude" and "condescending" toward nurses....I've witnessed him be anything but that....he epitomizes teamwork and professionalism. He sets the bar pretty high for himself. Everyone in the medical field should.

Dr Coutney is one of the best nephrologists that I have worked with. He’s thorough, compassionate, and always a strong advocate for his patients.
Working with Dr Courtney for 20 years, he not only values, and respects the multidisciplinary team; he leads by example and drives everyone around him to the same standard.
