Dr Downs is invaluable. He is an excellent Psychiatrist. Meeting in 1995, when I was a child, he has always kept me on as little medication as possible, but what was medically necessary. He takes time to go over anything you need, with genuine concern. Being VERY thoroughly committed to solving my health issues and committed to me as a patient means an extra 28 years of life and counting. He listens, is willing to help and discuss, is empathetic and professional. I would recommend him to anyone. I struggled for so many decades not wanting to be alive. Dr Downs is the reason I am still here. Thank you Dr Downs.

He forgets to send in your prescription so you are without and has done this many times. He is rude and calls you names. Time to retire

very self-absorbed doesn't like to listen has to be right pushes medication even if somebody says they don't want to take it he forces them to or he says he will not see them or provide services unless they take medication. Very I am the best listen to me I know everything I don't care to understand you and my way or the highway type person. Worst experience I've ever had made fun of me put me down and made judgments about me yet only spoke to me for 5 minutes. do not recommend this person at all horrible horrible self-absorbed pompous rude doctor. Save yourself the headache stay away from him and the stat Day program. currently have an investigation open with the college of physicians and human Rights commission and a complaint at HSC head of psychiatry.

Dr. Downs is a great psychiatrist, but probably his only problem is that he cheers for the wrong NFL football team!

Dr. Downs is a real gem. He takes the time to listen to me. He took the time and effort to pull my whole story out of me and help me to understand it and radically accept it, over and over again. He is very patient and caring. He is very kind, but he doesn't sugar coat things all of the time because that isn't always the point of therapy. He helps me so much and I am so very grateful for everything that he does! He's just the best. I think he has been more open-minded and careful in considering my diagnoses than any other doctor or psychiatrist that I've ever had. He helps me to build the confidence necessary to remember that there is always light inside of me, even in the darker days of life, which are definitely fewer and always less dim since I started therapy with him.

Dr. Downs is very quick to jump to conclusions.He seemed very Psychodynamic, and kept self-congratulating himself for understanding the situation -- when he was just looking at surface of a complex situation

Dr Downs is terrible as a phyciatrist. He is very unprofessional, despite his degree and years of practice. I was shocked that he used the f-word more then once during our session and continually belittled me to the point where I was in tears.

Dr. Downs is a leading doctor in his field for a reason. Just because a diagnosis is made doesn’t mean there’s a quick fix. I note that the negative reviews are parents of patients. Perhaps refusing to examine yourselves and your role in family dynamics is the issue, not Dr. Downs.

He is absolutely professional, caring, humourous and a great listener. He brings his broad knowledge to bear on specific situations and helps unravel a lifetime of complexity with illuminating metaphors. Of course he is not going to talk to family members. You are not the patient and there is an issue of confidentiality. If you’re unable to communicate with your child or other loved one than go get your own therapy as it may help in understanding the process or even understanding yourself and how to deal with a truly difficult situation.

I would be dead if not for Dr. Downs. The process is long term, with no quick fixes and some very tough conversations and decisions along the way.

Patience and an open mind are key. Blame and judging the doctor are certain to lead to a lack of success. With patients who have a readiness for self examination, introspection and the long term macro view, Dr. Downs is not a magician but an absolutely special doctor who can help the willing.

I have been seeing Dr Downs for almost 28 years off and on as required! He has always been there for me, listening and offering the best advice possible! I really think without his assistance and expert knowledge my life would have been a tragic story! He is uplifting and i look fwd to his opinion on any issues i am encountering at the time!
