Helped to save my life many years ago. I still think of him often. I was told by a staff member that it was he who fought for me and stood up to others who did not agree on how to treat my case. He came to my hospital room daily and I got such a kick out of him. He struck me immediately as a brilliant man who said what he thought.(In a small way he reminded me of Dr. House played by Hugh Laurie), but he also struck me as a person who cared about his patient. I feel extremely fortunate that Dr. Friend was my doctor. When you are looking at life or death I want the doctor who does his job well even if he's a little rough around the edges
