Do not go to Dr. Thornton. I was in treatment with her for one year and had no results. At my last consultation appointment with her she said she did not know why my treatment had not worked. I sought a second opinion from another doctor within the practice as I was satisfied with Boston IVF. The other doctor looked at my past treatments under Dr. Thornton and explained that she had me insufficiently medicated to support implantation. I resumed treatment with my new doctor who added progesterone shots to my plan. Both embryos implanted that cycle and I am now pregnant with twins. While I am thankful for my second doctor and for Boston IVF, Dr. Kim Thornton was terrible. I hate to think that some may go through all of their covered treatments under her care, insufficiently medicated and then never have children. Please seek a different doctor or at least a second opinion if she is your current provider.

This doctor is terrible. Infertility is already a sensitive and difficult situation. She practices with no compassion or feeling; she's cold. Each time I saw her for an appointment, I felt like she was meeting me for the first time. She made me feel like I was just a uterus. After a rather traumatic appointment, I switched facilities. Terrible bedside manner.

After 3 1/2 years of IUIs and in vitro, 3 miscarriages and zero answers, I finally decided to split with my old clinic and try Boston IVF after some research.

Within the first 20 minutes of my consult with Dr. Thornton, she asked, "Do you have any other health problems besides mild PCOS?" I responded, "I don't have that." Turns out I do and my old clinic just never thought it was relevant enough to mention. I can't tell you how relieved I was to have a Dr. give me such a definitive answer and seem confident that they could address it. After discussing some tweaking she planned to do with my meds for my next cycle, she concluded the appt. by saying, "You will get pregnant and carry to term. I can't promise you how many tries it will take, but it WILL happen." I left feeling like I was on the right track.

My cycle went smoothly and I was monitored far less than at my previous clinic. At first it made me a little nervous because I have always had the tendency to hyperstim, but they truly knew what they were doing. I'm now pregnant, safely past the "danger zone," with twins.

Does Dr. Thornton seem like the most sweet, compassionate person in the world? Maybe not. She's not really a teddy bear. While it may have been nice to have her hold my hand and be a little more sensitive when discussing my very painful track record, I'm not there to have a therapist. I'm there to get pregnant. Listen, this woman knows her stuff and if results are what you're looking for, look no further.

On a side note, the staff was great. The receptionist in Worcester, Jean, was a total sweetheart and really on the ball. She'd take care of scheduling, insurance stuff, or in my case, FMLA paperwork incredibly quickly and always seemed eager to go the extra mile.

In the Waltham office, I accidentally left my inhaler there the day of egg retrieval and someone actually called and said since she lived in my area (about 45 minutes away), she could drop it off to me on her way home. Who does that?!

But back to Dr. Thornton. I really can't recommend her highly enough. Even after I was discharged to a normal people OB (yay), she offered to be available for any questions that may arise and made me promise to bring the twins by the office. 3 1/2 years with another Dr. with no results. 1 cycle with Dr. Thornton and my family is complete. Just saying.

This so-called doctor has forgotten her hypocratic oath! Her caring about the patient only relates to how much you spend and simply wants to push for costly procedures. She doesn't listen to her patients, care to find the truth, doesn't respect your time or care about your feelings.

I have 2 children w/ Dr. Thorton's help. They were IVF babies. She only made me do a couple IUI's before doing something more aggresive. We never felt rushed, or anything.Would definetly recommend her to someone going through IVF.

I think Dr. Thornton is great. She is very pleasant and actually listens to what you have to say, very carefully. I asked her a lot of questions, I am a very detail oriented person and she answered all of them, without rushing, explained the course of action in a simple, logical way that made a lot of sense. She was very supportive and told me what to do in case smth goes wrong. I really don't think she has any problem communicating relevant information or engaging in conversation, at least not in my experience. I am 8 weeks pregnant now and I wouldn't mind to have her as my obgyn as well.

I agree with the previous posting.Very impersonal, like she doesn't care. I had 6 un-sucessful IUI cycles with no treatment changes. Exactly the same medications and dosages, I felt such a wasted time and money. Then my 1st IVF cycle which also did not end in pregnancy. On my last appointment she didn't even have my file and didn't know anything about my case. Not to mention that I feel she wants to get it over with quickly. Not very professional and definitely not a passionate doctor.Never says Good Bye, she goes out of the office then a nurse comes in and explains what the schedule going to be. I had to ask if I'm finished and can leave... The staff, nurses are awsome and exceptional.

She isn’t just impersonal and bad in explaining- she isn’t someone who cares, who is willing to go an extra mile to show you all you options. When my hb and I first saw her, we explained right away that we would like to try a very conservative approach, and that every form of IVF or anything else isn’t in our favor. She listens; she makes notes, yet asks little questions. After about a 20 minute conversation, she prescribes clomid and you are good to go. No good luck, a simple good buy- that’s it. I was advised to have a follow up appointment with her, also very impersonal, this time over the phone. No questions about my first cycle, no questions if I had any side effects, and again when I was asking for more in-depth deatils, nadda, nothing. Today, I found out that she is suppose to examine my pelvic and ovaries thoroughly before any kind of treatment.

Dr Thornton is knowledgeable but impersonal in her style. She does not know how to explain things in simple terms & does not discuss her decisions. I had one IVF cycle with her that resulted in a pregnancy, but for the next time round I switched to someone else. No real complaints, I just prefer someone to be more communicative.
