She's mean. She called me a "non-person" when I was going through a very difficult time. Her attitude does patients more harm than good.

I agree with the negative comments about this doctor on this forum. She is harsh, dismissive, judgmental, and she lacks empathy. I was in her group for more than two years. The only reason I stayed in the group was because I liked the other members. Shortly before I left the group, I went through a traumatic experience. When I spoke to the group about it, this doctor made me feel a lot worse. She knew my vulnerabilities and she used them against me. I was trying to keep my head above water and she kept on pushing it back down. When I left the group for the last time, I said goodbye to her, and she did not look at me while barely saying goodbye back. I agree with the others on this forum that the group experience is different for those she likes. She definitely has her favourites, and those people may benefit from her therapy.

I've found her to be flippant, harsh, disrespectful and dismissive. She frequently jumped to inaccurate conclusions because she became judgemental instead of listening or exploring and instead of practicing empathy or compassion.

I am surprised by the negative comments on this forum. I found Dr. De Rappard to be very understanding and supportive with my issues. She makes sure that all participants are heard and paves a helpful path. I will continue with other services with this psychiatrist.

The therapeutic relationship with her is very difficult for me and that’s likely for a reason. Everyone probably experiences her differently based on their own past experiences which is probably often the point of working with her. It rarely feels good for me and yet it’s the only place that may be helping. I say ‘probably’ and ‘may’ because my experience of working with her changes from week to week. It’s been more than 2 years and every week feels unpleasant and yet she has stuck with the very difficult work so far when several others have bailed. I write this so that maybe others will consider sticking with it despite initial impressions.

Horrible. Just horrible. Contempt, superiority. I will add that I believe that she is dangerous. Run! There are others, much more helpful, out there.

I agree with some other posters that she is dangerous!!! Poor level of care. Proving she is smarter and better than you seems more important than being helpful. It took me years to recover from her “treatment”.

She is an intelligent and confident doctor who is very knowledgeable about her field and interested in her job, but her P.R . skills are not good. She needs to be more gentle and less intimidating towards patients and needs to deal with patients' families more professionally, politely, and diplomatically and be less combative and aggressive.

I attended the group for a while. I think she is actually dangerous. She is not very caring - except for people she personally likes. The time I spent there was more damaging than helpful and resulted in a deep depression that took more competent support to start to resolve. To start with I appreciated her 'honesty'but in the end it was very unkindness wrapped up in faux therapy and was damaging

I attended her group for 5+ years. She doesnt sugarcoat things, she is real. I found it evident that she deeply cares about us and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be under her care.
