I would suggest you keep your distance from him. My mother and I had a terrible experience with him. He’s arrogant and without compassion. Medication weren’t ordered on time, leaving my mother to suffer needlessly. Absolutely terrible!

When I met Dr. Kortmansky, I had little experience. He assured me of his competence at directing my care. He then with smiles and chuckles, cajoled me into signing into a study, assuring me that the stated side effects don't happen, and this will be good for me. 11 months later I was having a near death experience. 1 month later I spent a month in the hospital because of his misprescription. He never came to see me. Others had to figuire it out. I now live with a damaged heart, joints that make me cry, visual disturbances, and more. Every medical question i asked him that I later found the answer: HE WAS WRONG! IF YOU EVER JOIN A STUDY!BE WARNED! THE DATA COLECTED IS WORTH MORE THAN YOUR HUMAN LIFE!

Willing to learn, to listen and help until the things get the slightest bit complected, he speaks as if it is your fault that he cannot come up with a solution. Treated as if I were a complete moron and completely disrespectful to family members that came along more than once.
You don't feel well in the first place, than he makes you wait for at least an hour, just to spend a few minutes seemingly trying to get you out of his office.
At a low point and feelings of giving up, unable to eat and even take a sip of water, he said, "Well, you just want everything. Don't you?"
Not sure if hes just jaded or as most others say, incredibly rude and arrogant.
I will say that when seen in the hospital by him, he listens, he is understanding and motivational. Back to the office visits, always awful bedside manner. His main secretary was very candid with me and made mention of his negativity toward her and always getting blamed for his mistakes or lack of follow through.
As a matter of fact, she actually quit and moved out of state!
If you have a start to finish by the book case (which no one does!) he's great. Other than that, NO THANK YOU!

Arrogant, yet can be charming. Not sure if his show of compassion is sincere. Definitely narcissistic and self absorbed. Worst of all, I would have died under his care if I hadn't switched doctors.

Terrible bedside manner, full of himself, arrogant, insensitive....could go on for days. All based on experience at Sloan.

Dr. Kortmansky is incredibly kind and patient with his client's. I will never forget my frustration with my father during my mother's illness of lung cancer...he said,"Cancer is a disease of the family." He understood the needs of our family as a whole. Dr. Kortmansky always gave my mother hope and respected her wishes. He kept my mother comfortable and always saw her during exacerbations. He always returned a phone call even if it was 9pm. He was not afraid to gave a difference of opinion with collegues if it was in the best interest of the patient; in mom's case- sending her home. The staff was wonderful and became like family to them during the 17 months.I would highly recommend Dr. Kortmansky if you or a loved one appreciates a physician who takes the time to listen.

Incredible bedside manner. Very soft spoken and comforting during this very difficult time. Takes as much time as you need, and answers all questions. Never felt like I was being rushed. All staff are very nice, RNs are really good at IVs.
