Unprofessional! Talks about himself most of time. I wanted to know my family member's progression and then he questioned how my pap smear came out and if I had any warts?! Buddy, I get it's confidential, but that was OBNOXIOUS! Almost walked out mid-session after hearing his life story for the SHORT 30 minutes, regret not doing it!

I would NEVER recommend anyone to this horrid place. First of all his secretary is unbelievably rude. When I called to cancel an appointment she had such an attitude with me for it and insisted that I would be billed for cancelling an appointment because I had been called into work that day, as if people don't have lives or something! When I finally decided not to even argue with this idiot I just said okay send me a bill and she said alright and hung up! Didn't even ask if I would like to reschedule or anything. Second Dr. Rubinstein is terrible! I went their to talk about my unbearable anxiety and he talked about absolutely pointless things, such as coffee, and morning bowel movements, how he pays $800 a month for insurance and how I have Medicaid and it pays for more things than his does. He told me drinking caffeine is causing my anxiety even though I tried to explain to him that I do not even drink that much coffee and still proceeded to tell me to make a "log" of how much coffee I drink and how he understands that coffee makes you take your "morning p**p He didn't even speak to me about my issues he kept going off topic and had the nerve to tell me that he doesn't trust the business I am in because I am in the used car business, as if he isn't worse! I went all the way to queens from long island which means I had to take a train and due to the times when I got there I had to wait an hour and than after I had to wait another hour, to only see him for 40 minutes! He told me that he needs to "build a relationship" with me before he can really call me his client. He told me that he also believes I need to be on medication but will not prescribe me anything until I see him for a month! I get very emotional an anxious when having to speak to someone about my issues and I cry often, while I started to cry all he said to me was, "when we're done here you need to go look in the mirror and fix your make up" Really?! that's what you have to say while someone is crying and opening up to you about their life!? We were in the middle of talking and he cut me off and said time was up. Waste of time and money all Dr. Rubinstein and his secretary care about is collecting money they do not sincerely want to help people, all in all, all I learned while I was there is that coffee helps your bowels in the morning.

What a horrible experience!!! I went to him to get a second opinion about a recent add diagnosis. He would not even let me speak. He told me that he does not know me but thinks I have a personality problem and that the cause is too much caffeine. I asked him what steps I should take besides cutting caffeine. He stated "Whoa one step at a time. If you are looking for medication then you should go hire Michael Jackson's former doctor." What doctor says that?? I explained that I already have a script from the doc who diagnosed me. I just wanted his opinion. He told me I need to keep a log of my caffeine intake and come back to him in a week. I explained that I will do my best to keep the log but I have a hard enough time getting myself dressed and to work everyday. He said if I can't follow his instructions not to come back...Well I will not be anyway! Please don't waste your time!! Find someone who cares & who is professional.

I visited him twice. On both occasions, he interrupted and digressed at length, usually to demean other providers as incompetent or corrupt. He was dismissive of my depression and suicidal ideation as "drama." "Look me in the eyes. I don't care if you suicide." I hope he gets better. Look elsewhere for help.

He is very rude. I had to cancel one weeks appointment because of financial reasons and he told me if I didn't come the next week then he wouldn't treat me in the future. I was furious and after he would not change his stance I stormed out. He followed me all the way outside just to make sure I paid the $20 copay. He also did not help me with any of the issues I came to him for. His weekly therapy sessions are a joke. He is really a terrible doctor.

I wish I saw the above comments before I went to him. You must see him every week or else he doesn't have use for you. I found him to be very arrogant in his tone and approach. I was susceptible to him because I was going through a really week time in my life but once I got my head together I dropped him. I was seeing a psychotherapist while I was seeing him and he dismissed her as not being a "real" doctor. He also dismissed my medical doctor's concern about the medication he prescribed for me. I left each session not feeling as if I received any true help which is a shame because I truly needed it.

The reviewer above is right. The first and only appointment. This psychiatrist pretty much told me he didn't consider me his patient ; and(this is about after 8 minutes in office)he believed I didn't "accept him" as a doctor, and he "doesn't pry" for information. He began arguing with hamburger analogies (in the middle of which he opened the door and called his secretary to request fries with his hamburger lunch for the day). Less than 15 minutes in the office (all after making an appointment in advance and paying the full fee beforehand), and treated my mom and I as if we were nobodies who walked in from the street. He was completely unprofessional and left no options but to leave.

Dr. M. Rubinstein is certainly unethical if not an outright crook. This shrink seeks patients that will see him on a weekly basis, but he will not say so before the first visit so one will have to waste at least 1 visit if one is not gullible enough to fall for Rubinstein's promise of 1st class service by seeing him on a weekly basis. In psychiatry as in medicine overall less means more so if one has to see "doctor" Rubinstein on a weekly basis for an indeterminate period for treatment or to function normally then something is very wrong with his treatment approach given the great advances in biological psychiatry and psychopharmacology. He spent a great deal of time discussing money/insurance issues with me instead of focusing on my medical issues. It seemed particularly unseemly for a medical session. He will draw down all of your mental health benefits to 0 and/or raid your bank account if you let him. My recommendation is to skip this clown and keep searching for someone better.
