Experienced in the use of medication so that one can think clearly. If there is a problem he is on call 24/7. Always answers his pager. He is thoughtful and is committed to each patient. There is none better for pain related issues.

Problem solver,is prepared when you enter the office with all your information,listens completely to what you are saying,creates a plan of medication and treatment that is personal to you and your life style,always answers his pager,returns call rapidly,is deeply concerned about your benefits from the medication,always greets you personally in the waiting area,always discusses the plan thoroughly with you and the other doctors

Dr Barkin with intelligence and grace made me feel like he was walking in my shoes. He never rushed me with my questions and concerns. I met him at Rush and I am going to see him again with an upcoming surgery. The best doctor I have ever been treated by. He is not shy about telling his personal experiences which keeps his humanity in his practice unlike so many other practitioners. I am honored to be his patient.

Saved my life. On the third day after bi-lateral knee replacements the staff at what was then Rush North Shore had yet to lessen my pain. Dr Barkin arrived quickly,after Dr. Goldstien had called him. He quickly worked his magic. I am eternally grateful. He is a genius chemically and a charming funny man. When I thanked him for saving my life he replied "Oh no I only save stamps." A great man

answers all our questions,answers his pager on weekends and when office is closed,listens to us,replies exactly to the questions,spends hours getting the prescription from our insurance when not on the preferred drug list from the insurance company,called our doctor when our blood pressure readings were to much,talks with our other doctors,the doctors he works with treat us in a team fashion,we send our friends to his pain center because they can get blocks and medications,explained all the drugs to use and the reason his pain center is using them on us..,gives us information on each drug ,gives coupons,suggests other ways to decrease the pains blocks,physical therapy,weight loss,talk therapy with a psycholagist,has office in skokie and evanston hospitals

I like him very much. He does not rush me out. Put in Emergency call, HE called back within 1/2 hr. He is lovely,old school Dr. Have not seen a greater Dr. since Dr. Rapasy. Smart guy.

This practice is a bunch of quacks!!! First they make you see this crazy Dr. Wu who makes the patient feel like a drug addict even when they are bringing in medical records and give a detailed history. I wonder if Dr. Barkin knows what a jerk Dr. Wu is.
