TRUST YOUR GUT, THIS GUY IS FULL OF BS!!
Dr Boyd dismissed my diagnosis from a rheumatologist and said he'd be comfortable doing either PRK or Lasik for my eyes.
His arrogant bedside manner made me uncomfortable and uncertain of his skill, so I got. Second opinion. The other surgeon asked to see my charts from my rheumatologist and declared me that my eyes are a "definite no" for any laser surgery. In her opinion any laser would leave me in horrible discomfort for the rest of my life. Thank goodness I didn't trust Dr Boyd!

Dr Boyd's bedside manner was atrocious. He insisted he knows more about me and my diagnosis than my rheumatologist did and declared it impossible for Sjogrens to be diagnosed with a blood test, even though that's exactly how it's diagnosed. As a woman who has a very complex health history, I found him condescending and dismissive.
He was rushing to the next patients and had very little caring in how he spoke to me.
In explaining the difference between PKR and Lasik he touched my leg quite suddenly and without checking for consent.

I went to Dr. Boyd for inflammatory eye disease. He did not take patient or medication history. When it recurred, he declared the recurrence and spread impossible. He barely checked my eyes and said I had few scratches on my cornea but if what I was doing was working to just keep doing it. I went to another opthamologist two days later who understands the link between immune conditions and eye disease. I have corneal ulcer and eye disease in both eyes. Dr. Boyd is condescending and does not listen. I have been to many specialists, and I have rarely been so disrespected.

My Surgery was quick, Dr. Boyd was reassuring during both procedures. The procedure were painless, and quick. Best decision I have ever made.
I highly recommend Dr. Boyd and his team at boydvision to anyone that needs to have this surgery done.
Great Team!

From my experience, Dr. Boyd was excellent, very patient and explained everything to me. The staff was also super excellent and all had even a good sense of humor. I am from Victoria and had been waiting for cataract surgery for 2 years already and was told that I would have to wait another 8 months. My Victoria eye surgeon had a good reputation but then suddenly he went on a one-year sabbatical and I was switched to a new doctor from another province. A good friend then suggested I go to Mexico where she could get me into a clinic within a week. I seriously considered this until my kids advised against this and one found Dr. Boyd's clinic for me in Burnaby. I am 77 years old. My vision was deteriorating very quickly and I could no longer safely drive, not read any of my books and my computer was getting more blurry each day. Some other friends suggested I do something quickly if I didn't want to go blind. Many people told me that the surgery was not bad at all and was pretty safe. Still, I had anxiety regarding eye surgery. For this surgery, I had to pay myself but it was relatively very inexpensive even though I was living on a pension. If I went through the standard healthcare system I would have had to wait at least 8 months to a year even in Vancouver and I found out through Internet research that this was a common waiting period even in Mexico and England. I could not risk this long waiting period since I already waited two years. From my first appointment to surgery was about two weeks. The staff and doctor explained very carefully the procedure and were great at providing comfort to me. For the actual surgery, a series of 5 sets of drops was applied to my eye. Then after waiting a short time the surgery started. I did not feel any kind of pain and after a few minutes Dr. Boyd said "We are almost done." Maybe the whole procedure was 10 or 15 minutes and then a waiting period in the office to make sure everything was OK. The next day my eyesight was already incredible. I could read what I could barely see before. All the colors were so vibrant. I went back to Victoria the following day and came back a week later for a checkup and everything was good. I had surgery in one eye. My other eye did not have a cataract problem but had a vision of 20/120 due to something called Amblyopia which cannot be fixed with surgery. So from my experience, that was the best doctor visit of my life. THank you Dr. Boyd and all your wonderful staff!

Went there to see about laser surgery. As soon as I suggested I was not interested, he'd walked out of the room without a word. Very Rude. BTW, laser surgery meant 'possible' fixing far sight BUT would ruin your near sight. That's something I need for working on the computer. He comes in nice but very rush.. as soon as there's no $$, he'll treats you like garbage. Would not trust anyone like this.

Appointment was useless, he just rushes patients and doesn't care about their issues.

Over the last 20 years I have been very pleased with every appointment I have had with Dr Boyd. Very knowledgeable and caring. He has never tried to insist on any treatment and even didn’t recommend LASIK eye surgery when I asked him on my first visit but got me into progressive lenses because of the nature of my job, this being before the bifocal contacts had been fully tested.

Its been a pleasant refreshingly positive experience with Boydvision. Having cataract in both the eyes was concerned being alone and almost blind in one eye it was quite a challenge but Dr. Boyd was always most professional, patient, courteous and compassionate. His full team, the techs and front office staff are friendly, informative, helpful and kind.
I highly recommend this clinic for any eye issues even though Dr. Boyd is extremely busy and so seems brusque but his knowledge and skill surpasses other opthamologists.
I truly wish Dr. Boyd and his staff the very best and thank you all once again.
