Biggest waste of time. Staff and dr. not helpful and not informative of their practices. They wasted my time from work and stole my money as they did not do what they were supposed to during the visit and claimed that this was part of their procedures. They would rather lose a patient than refund $20 of my copay which I considering stealing since I did not get what I made an appointment for. Don't waste your time. There are too many doctor's out there to deal with this.

Dr. Brigitte Abrishami was my general internist for approximately 8 years. I have a Ph.D. in pharmacology and I have significant experience/expertise in pharmacology; I suspect that my medical knowledge is substantially greater than the average individual. I am not in a position to evaluate Dr. Abrishami's clinical experience/expertise; however, during my entire tenure with her, I rarely felt that she treated me with even a modicum degree of respect, I do not "demand respect" from others because of my academic training and experience/expertise; however, I would appreciate respect as a person and as her patient. I recently chose to find another internist precisely because of her inability (or unwillingness) to respect me. Unfortunately, I am never convinced that she had much interest in my comments.
In 2010, I was hospitalized for 10 days (at SGAH) with a history of HINI flu and bacterial pneumonia. She is an attending physician at SGAH, yet failed to see me while i was hospitalized nor did she call me, although she was my private internist during this episode. I particularly recall one occasion when she called me to her office to speak to me; she commented that prior to our conversation she needed to make one phone call. That one call was to the individual who watched Dr. Abrishami's horse while she was at work. She was concerned because the horse was experiencing an episode of coughing/spitting up yellow mucous. I have a chronic history of lung ailments (particularly bronchitis); in
Dr. Abrishami's defense, she would see me on very brief notice when my lungs became congested. I have Type II diabetes, and she certainly demonstrated judicious and good clinical judgment in routinely assessing my HbA1C levels. Likewise, she ordered complete blood work on a routine basis. Despite my diabetes, she often appeared overly concerned when I experienced a weight gain of 1-3 pounds, although I believe she knew that i had been evaluated and assessed routinely by a registered dietician and was currently being followed by a therapist with a strong background/experience in nutrition. She showed little, if any interest, when I told her that I was recently diagnosed with glaucoma , although she knew that I was being carefully followed by a team of ophthamologists at The Washington Center of Physicians and Surgeons. During a recent visit she commented that I experienced peripheral edema in my lower extremities; she literally became insulting and combative when I told her that within the last month I had been evaluated by my two private cardiologists (at Cardiac Associates) and that neither physician commented about any evidence of peripheral edema. I had no interest in arguing with her, I was merely apprising her of my two independent visits with board-certified cardiologists within the previous month. Her behavior and demeanor often appeared sporadic, at best. I have several medical conditions and I believe it is vital that I have a good/excellent rapport with my general internist. Unfortunately, I never developed a rapport of that nature with Dr. Abrishami. I
believe that it is time for a change, and I certainly stand-by my decision to seek another internist.

My son had a first appointment with Dr. Abrishami that was for an annual physical exam. He is 25, but has special needs due to autism and mental illness. Since I am his legal and medical Guardian, I came with him to give his history to the Dr. and ask questions about her ofgice, communication methods, etc.

Dr. Abrishami has been our doctor for 16 years. She sees my husband, my daughter and me. She has always given us good medical advice and has steered us to excellent specialists, when necessary. This is most important when medical problems arise. I also like that she doesn't quickly prescibe antibiotics. I love her office staff! They are so friendly and competent. They really make us feel comfortable. We haven't had to wait very long to be seen and can usually get an appointment quickly.Regarding the comments about her dog, I firmly believe in the therapuetic value of pets, So I love seeing Geraldo, but I suppose some folks don't feel the same way. I don't think she has a dog in her office in the afternoon, so perhaps folks who don't like Geraldo could schedule appointments later in the day. I like the small office feel. It suits my syle as I don't like huge medical offices with several staff persons who don't even know the patients.

I am a healthcare professional and I think Dr. Abrishami is an excellent doctor. She is very knowledgeable and most caring. She does not push antibiotics or medications, randomly or unnecessarily. She is thoughtful and serious about what she does. I feel so very fortunate to have such a wonderful doctor caring for me.

This is easy. I would simply agree with every word from the review posted on 5/31/12. See below: I have never met a doctor who has such poor bedside manners. You could be sitting in front of her for 10-15 minutes without her acknowledging your presence. While taking a medical history she cut me off to play with her dog. I am not sure of her medical acumen but if a doctor cannot make the patient feel cared for and valued then they shouldn't be in this profession to begin with. I would also add that this doctor does not return phone calls nor will she share test results with her patients. The true definition of lazy and mediocre.

I have been a patient of Dr. Abrishami for over 18 years. I think she is one of the best doctors I have ever been to. She is very proactive. She watches for trends in my records. She is quick to suggest treatments for anything that may be a problem. She is very knowledgable. I never have to wait, she is always on time. I would never go anywhere else. I love her theraputic dog Geraldo. He is so sweet and seeing him always makes my day. I don't think I can speak highly enough about her. It's nice to have a doctor who cares. She is awesome!!!

I came in for an emergency sick visit. I was seen the same day and was given prompt and pleasant service from both the office staff and the dr. I did not have to wait long to see the dr. and my prescriptions were sent to the pharmacy for me from the office so I did not have to go and wait there either. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a dr.

I feel that she is a qualified physician who doesn't push drugs, which is great. Scheduling appointments is easy and quick, and usually I can get in within a few days. However, I always have a long wait time to see her even if there aren't other patients. She brings her dog to her clinic, which I didn't see as professional. I don't feel like she answers all my questions. I had gotten a second opinion about a treatment option and she brushed me off afterward and didn't want to hear out my concerns.

Dr. Abrishami's is a professional, knowledgeable physician, who cares for her patients. Her staff, though young, are helpful and adhere to Dr. Abrishami's instructions. If I request information from my file that is approved by Dr. Abrishami, it will be provided to me. They are friendly and cheerful, which makes my day, even though I have to wait to be seen.
