Dr. Jones is absolutely an exemplary physician. He diagnosed me with inappropriate sinus tachycardia due to my underlying, still undiagnosed inflammatory disease. I highly recommend him for anyone who is like me and has a chronic illness (especially if you have some appointment anxiety due to previous doctors who were awful/dismissive/rude to you).

I'm probably one of the few young women (I am 23) he sees, as whenever I go for an appointment, I definitely feel like I am surrounded by older people. I wanted to note that because I think it can be hard as a young person with a chronic illness to find doctors like this who listen and take you seriously. Some doctors will imply that because you are young, you cannot be extremely sick or have a heart problem. However, Dr. Jones is absolutely WONDERFUL. His one receptionist (Sally, I think? Gosh I'm sorry if you read this and I got your name wrong!) was just SO kind over the phone. Although I waited months for Dr. Jones to accept my geneticist's referral, once I got my two appointment dates for my echocardiogram (the male tech who did my test was also an absolute ANGEL who turned my day around with our convo and made me cry happy tears when I left the office), and my treadmill/exercise stress test (where Dr. Jones sees you before and after the test), Sally actually got me in SO much sooner on two cancellations. I was so grateful for that, as this illness is taking over my life and causing me a lot of pain and suffering, so whenever I can see a specialist sooner, I am just SO thankful. The young male nurse who prepped me for my tests/to see Dr. Jones is also so sweet. I want to note as well that I did have to remove clothing and stuff for my ECG and for the electrodes for my treadmill test, so for any women who are anxious about situations like this- he was so professional and sweet! I was surprised too because he remembered me, so you can tell he cares a lot about the patients he sees! I felt comfortable the whole time, so thank you to him! And the female nurse who helped Dr. Jones with my treadmill test was SO dang sweet too. She was very knowledgeable and because I was feeling super sick the whole time (especially after the treadmill test), she kept making sure to get me water.

Dr. Jones is just the nicest guy. His demeanor reminds me of some of my great professors at university- he treats you with respect (like a friend or a colleague), he's very thoughtful and knowledgeable, and he cares about his patients a lot (for example, due to my chronic illness and my current medication costs and being unable to work/having to apply for AISH/not having great coverage, I pretty much can barely afford to live/pay rent, and he gave me lots of big samples of the heart medication I need, which I am SO GRATEFUL for). He's very thorough in his history-taking/exam. He has been very honest and upfront about his medical opinion, but also listens and had empathy. Dr. Jones let me know that the medication I am using is just a band-aid for one of the symptoms caused by my illness, and was honest in saying that he probably can't do much and doesn't know if he can really help- yet he always gives me the option of booking a follow-up (which I did, because I would rather be safe and keep on top of my health as best I can).

Also, on another spontaneous note, another strange reason I liked Dr. Jones is that he is very quirky! I feel like you can usually tell when a doctor is truly great if they have interesting quirks about them. When you see him for a treadmill test, you will be in a large area with change rooms on one side and treadmills with patients walking/running along another wall. In the center of the area, he has a desk. Between patients, he will look over files, walk around and mumble/review/read over their files to himself, then go take his own patient history/ask questions/etc. So you can actually SEE him taking the time to look over files and give the best care he possibly can.

Anyways, I plan to keep this awesome physician as my cardiologist in the future. And if you or your staff are reading this, thank you for being a physician who truly cares and wants to help! Even if you think you are unable to do much other than treat a symptom of my underlying condition, you and your staff have done SO much more for me. I have had so many terrible experiences with doctors before I found the amazing ones I'm now sticking with (for example, one dermatologist told me that I was mentally ill and refused to accept I had scabies, etc... I left her office BAWLING, so thank goodness she has retired). So having doctors like you and being treated with respect and compassion by your amazing staff makes my life so much easier. Living in pain and feeling horrid every day is truly difficult, but having great experiences like this with people who care and truly want to help makes SO much difference in my life. Thank you!!!

Right on everyone...listening is great...but slow on the action...It's like you almost have to do your research and tell him what you want done. It's great that he's a good listener...but I'd like to hear the options and not have to wait months for action...because it seems like you have to have something reoccur in order to get any action from Dr. Jones.

I recently was hospitalized , With a pericardial effusion , causing cardiac tamponade. Dr. Jones did the drainage of the fluids around my heart , he and his team were very knowledgable and helpful through my life threatening ordeal. Also his consulting office through follow up appointments was just the same. His staff along with the Royal Aexandria hospital in Edmonton were most caring and compassionate to me and my family .

Yes...the last person was right on the money..He always listens but takes time taking any action. He is friendly but his secretary is rude. Sometimes I felt like I was telling him what course of action to take??? as if I knew what to do? It left me feeling not very confident in his course of treatment.
