I had a horrible experience with this doctor. When I first went to her everything was fine, she was friendly and helpful and took the time. But the moment you question her advice or have a brain of your own she gets offended and angry. When my son was 2 he had a few episodes of very rapid heart beat where it was beating so fast I couldn't even count it. This terrified me. I took him to Dr Harpstrite and she ordered him an EKG. The results came back normal which I expected since the rapid heartbeat had already passed. About six months later my son came to me and told me his heart felt funny. I listened to his heart and it was firing away like crazy. I went and saw Dr Harpstrite again but this time she completely ignored my concerns. She was cold and uncaring and made me feel like I was an idiot who didn't know the best for my own child. Later when I got home I called and asked for a referral to a heart specialist and she got snappy and angry on the phone. How dare I think I know better than her, the doctor! Well I didn't' back down, this was my baby boy and I just had a feeling something wasn't right and it turned out I was right. After seeing the specialist my son was diagnosed with Multifocal Atrial tachycardia. Fortunately thru medication we were able to correct this problem and he is now all good. It goes without saying I immediately changed pediatricians and found a wonderful doctor who took very good care of my son thru this trying time. Here is the scary thing, my friend had a very similar experience with Dr Harpstrite. Her daughter had wheezing when she slept and occasional difficulty breathing. she was certain her daughter had asthma and took her to Dr Harpstrite who ignored her concerns. After many visits my friend had to get heavy and demand a asthma test and lo and behold, her daughter had asthma! I do not recommend Dr Harpstrite to anyone who wants to be involved in the health and care of their own child.
