I've gotten the run around and told I had many things I did not have then she told me I had the beginning stages of ms and denied telling me that and today tells me I'm borderline ms she's had me very scared by telling me I could be throwing clots to my brain or white Matter disease then told me dont be scared after everything she told me it's like say you dont know if you don't! Do not freak me out for weeks with a misdiagnosis! I found she doesn't know anything now I have to get a 2nd opinion

I love Dr. Altamirano. After seeing many different neurologists, she has been the only one to listen long enough to give me a correct diagnosis, treatment and to answer all of my questions. I can not recommend her enough. She is caring and careful with her patients. I know multiple people that have finally come to her after seeing many other doctors and finally received the answers they needed. She is wonderful and my favorite doctor that I have ever seen.

Dr. Altamirano is not very up-to-date in her knowledge or procedures. After diagnosing me with three herniated discs, she sent me to a neurosurgeon (a 1966 medical school graduate, just as she is). He recommended ACDF for the problems in my upper back and neck but was not anxious to proceed with the surgery because I was not yet completely debilitated. I decided to research the LSI in Scottsdale. I decided against it because not all the people who perform the "surgery" are medical doctors and because I would not be allowed to select who did the procedure. I visited with Dr. Altamirano again who told me that she would find a doctor who did minimally invasive spine surgery in our area and give me a referral. She never did that. When I called her to see if she would follow up, she told me that I didn't need a referral and that I should just find somebody on my own. In a nutshell, I'm basically back where I started. I would not recommend Dr. Altamirano to anybody.

I waited a while to get in, but it was worth the wait. She saw me for about an hour. Now I know why she's always running late. I had a lot of questions and she spent a lot of time with me answering my questions. She seems to know a lot.

There are better neurologists in Utah than this one. I didn't feel like I was getting good care at all, I wasn't sure she knew what she was doing, and it was difficult to communicate with her.

My wife went to Dr. A for a 2nd opinion about neck surgery for some deteriorating vertebrae and for 2 ruptured disks. She told my wife to cancel the existing appt for surgery: she could get her into a better doctor soon. She scheduled a nerve conduction test on my wife's neck. Then, however, she did not refer us to the doctor as she had promised. We tried 5 or 6 times to contact Dr. A, by telephone and by a letter I hand-delivered. We wanted to ask her to help my wife schedule the appt for surgical consulation because my wife was in a great deal of pain. For weeks there was no response at all. We were finally able, through friends, to schedule an appt with the surgeon. The day before surgery Dr. A called our home, asking whether there was anything she could do to help. It seems she had just read the letter, 2 weeks or more after I had taken it to her office. The problem? Partly her office staff-seem mostly her relatives. But she never sent surgeon results of the nerve conduction test.

I had to wait several times over an hour past my scheduled appt. Very frustrating! Office staff was accomodating, but once I even had to wait 1hr 45 min! I finally stopped seeing her.
