Dr. Koeleveld performed an L5-S1 laminectomy and fusion on me in Nov 2016. I'm 100% satisfied with the outcome and how I was treated as a patient. I'd highly recommend him to anyone facing the possibility of spinal surgery.

I have seen Dr. Koeleveld three times for surgery. First was C6-C7 fusion with a titanium Atlantis plate, second was L3-L4 microdiscectomy, latest was L4-L5 laminectomy and microdiscectomy. The last two cured me of significant pain, nearly overnight. His skill as a diagnostician is superb, but he really found his calling in surgery. He is somewhere on the far side of "mad skills." If you need a lot of hand-holding and hugs, he may not be your guy. But if you need straight information and expert surgery, he will provide it. I rest more easily knowing he can do the job better than anyone else in the Triangle. I'd see him for a fourth surgery if I had to have one. Special notice to his nurse, Judy, and to the lady who handles his scheduling. Both were totally on point.

I have seen Dr. Koeleveld several times over the past ten years for surgical evaluation. Last year he did a T-spine surgery on me at T2-T3 and told me that once it was done I'd be pain free and need no physical therapy. When I awoke from the surgery I was in such severe pain I was screaming and I can tolerate pain. This was a 12/10. I left the hospital three days late with a bottle of oxycodone and directions to schedule physical therapy. He was completely nonchalant about the entire thing. Since then there has been no improvement and I recently went back to him with a lower back problem that I've been struggling with since I was 26 and neck problem I've been struggling with since I was 32, two fractured vertebra and a degenerated disc which has turned into bone spurs, compressed nerves, degenerating plate ends and bulging discs. At age 46, the MRI radiologist wrote "this woman has degeneration in her C spine far beyond her age of 46. Never once did any doctor tell me this information. It could have saved me a lot of years of pain. It definitely would have changed my lifestyle. Anyway, today I went to see the good doctor again because I have no quality of life. I spend my nights constantly waking to try to find a position that's not painful to sleep and never finding it. I'm in constant pain in my neck and have daily migraines that never really resolve, just become worse every day. After my first surgery he told my daughter that I had C spine issues that would have to be dealt with but now doesn't acknowledge those as a problem. I have many symptoms that can be contributed to my spine compression and Schmorl's nodes and Tarlov's Cysts. However, the good doctor told me he didn't believe in those and didn't believe in cervicogenic migraines, cervicogenic dysphagia or dysphonia. He didn't believe in cervical pain causing leg and arm weakness. I believe he's either the stupidest doctor in the country or he just doesn't know how to do these surgeries and doesn't want to admit, the primadonna that he is. Well, he needs to come down off his pedestal from doing easy surgeries he can get cudos for and start doing some current research. Because all these things are in fact real and are being treated by Johns Hopkins with success and giving their patients a longer pain free life. All these issues are mostly accepted by the neurologic community as real and should be treated. Thank my higher power that I know how to read and know how to contact other doctors. This man could cause me to end up crippled because that's what the lack of treatment of a Tarlov's cyst can do. The problem is that only women get Tarlov's cysts and only 1% of those become symptomatic. Why should anyone want to spend their time learning about something that isn't going to pay enough to buy a cute, new little red sports car? Schmorl's nodes occur mostly in men but when they do occur in women usually become symptomatic. Well, again, it's not enough money coming in from a few. So today I was told in no uncertain terms that he couldn't help me. Of course, I don't think he helped me before but just exacerbated a situation with no regard for the instability of my neck that had been degeneration for years. Such a sad case of I'm the doctor I know more that you who have lived with your body for 62 years. "I'm sorry the surgery didn't work for you". I am too since I haven't been able to work since before the surgery last year and since then haven't been able to even get out and socialize. He has confined me to an existence of pain and isolation because he doesn't believe what's accepted by many doctors across the country.

Dr. Robin Koeleveld performed a Micro disectamy on my lower back when a disc chipped off and was compromising the nerve causing severe pain. I can tell you that every step of the process what remarkable. My first time under the knife so to speak and everyone from the hospital staff, the anesthesiologist and his staff, to the actual procedure took from 7:15 am to 11:20am. I walked out of the hospital was back to normal functionality (with restrictions) the next day. No pain, no problems for nearly 5 years now. Would recommend him and do it again in a heartbeat. Thank God this Dr. works in the South. I just love him. He gave me my "pain free" life back. Awesome Dr. K just awesome.

I was very dissatisfied with Dr. Koeleveld. I found him to be condescending and unhelpful. He spent about five minutes with me and would not provide any real information on his opinion. He seemed to have absolutely no concern for me. I have met others who had the same experience. I would never recommend him and thankfully found better surgeons in the area who took the time to examine me properly and offer treatment.

Very satisfied. This was my second cervical fusion and was much more satisfied with Dr Koeleveld that my first surgeon.

Dr. K has performed 3 procedures on my neck and spine in the last 10 years due to degenerative issues. He is an outstanding surgeon and very good caregiver, answering all my questions, explaining the options and prognosis for each. My neighbor is a nurse anesthetist and recommended him without knowing I was already his patient. All the hospital staff raved about him, and everyone said he's the one they would choose if they needed his specialty. This guy knows what hes doing.

Outstanding service all around. I was diagniised thoroughly and surgery was scheduled and performed quickly. The results are next to miraculous. Highly recommended.
