I applaud you Dr.Dirks for your compassion and empathy towards your patients and their families. I’ve heard of the lengths you have gone to help my colleague’s child. Your efforts may have saved his life. Looks like he will be getting the treatment that he needs.

This physician is a man of the highest calibre.

Dr.Dirks is truly a remarkable doctor and a true gem of a human being. He consulted with several neurosurgeon as my child’s case is very complex and was able to provide us with an informed opinion on the recommended treatment approach. He has been exceptionally kind and supportive throughout this whole difficult journey. We live in another province and he has gone above and beyond to ensure that my child is also cared for in Vancouver. He didn’t just treat us as a number.

Lastly, he even made referrals and ordered medical imaging for my older child to rule out the same condition. His approach to medicine is one that accounts for the needs of the entire family. I appreciate his level of experience, professionalism and compassion that he provides his clients. I work in health care as a nurse and I have to say that physicians like Dr.Dirks are rare. He is one of a kind and definitely one of the best and most thorough neurosurgeons I’ve ever come across.

I am grateful for his involvement in both my children's’ medical care. There is no neurosurgeon whose opinion I trust more than Dr.Dirks.

Dr.Dirks is absolutely one of the best neurosurgeons who has ever walked the face of this earth. Not only is he knowledgeable but he is truly an amazing human being. He consulted on my child’s case when others completely dismissed us. He is very diligent and thorough. He takes time to explain everything and doesn’t rush the appointment. He is very thorough and ensures all the necessary tests are completed so he can provide the best treatment recommendations. I found him to be a breath of fresh air and anyone who is lucky enough to have him treat their child should really count their lucky stars.

I couldn’t have been more luckier to have received him as my neurosurgeon. He is a busy man but always makes time to answer any of my questions or concerns. He performed both of my awake craniotomies and knowing that he was the one performing didn’t make me scared going under. I am now 16 years old and tumour free. I have been seeing him for 6 almost 7 years now and I have to say he is the best specialist I’ve seen. I would trust him with my life again if it came to it. He is extremely knowledgeable and does wonders.

Went to see Dr. Dirks for second opinion. We are in a watch and wait situation with an MRI/6 months. I am very nervous should my daughter need surgery however so far Dr. Dirks has been able to provide me with enough confidence that we are in the right spot. I am amazed at the care we have received from him so far, yes it does take a little time for a response but I understand he is busy and I will happy to wait for the best care. Thank you for giving us much needed confidence an relief as we have been suffering as a family for a long time.

This man has saved my life. Throughout the entire process he was super helpful and compassionate not only towards me but to my family. I felt a sense of comfort when Dr. Dirks would explain the procedure and explain the side effects as to why I was becoming so sick following my surgery. I am truly grateful, lucky, and blessed to have had this man perform my surgery. Doctors say they have never seen a better stitch up in their practice.

Don't believe these harsh reviews. I could imagine how many patients that Dr. Dirks must go through each day and of course it will be hard to find time for each and every person. As anyone else, he is extremely busy with surgeries, follow ups, etc.

I have never met a physician as competent and knowledgeable as he is. Despite the impossibly hard things he must see in his work, he remained compassionate, encouraging and kind. I have met many surgeons and there have been times when, based on my interactions, I have questioned their intentions: money? Perceived prestige, perhaps? But with Dr, Dirks, there were no questions, it was incredibly clear: he was in it to improve the quality of life for children with neurological disease. He os a remarkable man.
