I'm thankful for my RK in 1990 despite the effects I'm dealing with today. I need my eye medical information now for cataract surgery. Does anyone know if dr. Karas is still working and if so how I can contact him for my info? Thank you. cindycollins@rogers.com

Dr Karas has been found to be negligent in his RK surgery. He was ordered to pay over 5 million dollars for this negligence. The written judgement was harsh. Happy he will not be able to damage any more eyes.

Dear Dr Karas: I am writing to thank you!! In (I think) August 1977, you operated on me to fix strabismus in my right eye that was causing me to see (you believed) multiple images. I was just 11 months old at the time. I remember my Mom and Dad telling everyone how much I lit up and smiled every time I saw you. I am 44 years old now and just returned from a visit from a new Optometrist for a check up. When I told him about my childhood surgery and that you were the Doctor who did it, he smiled. He did the exam, my good eye still 20/15, and then checked my lazy eye. I just want you to know how he raved about how good the procedure was (still is!), he could tell, and said how impressive it was that you achieved such amazing results on an 11 month old. I could see how impressed he was as he completed the exam. My eye is still aligned, tracking normally with my left, and only when I am extraordinarily tired, very rarely, it wanders. All thanks to your amazing skills and talent as a surgeon. I can't thank you enough!! I can't thank you enough for the kindness you showed my parents. I can't thank you enough for being patient with me as a child. I was so lucky that we found you. I am beyond grateful to you for everything you did to help correct my vision. I wish you all the best. Thank you, so very much! L. Fenn

I had RK done by Doctor Karas back in 1988 or 89. It was a success and I was able to join the police service. Since then I had cataract surgery done by Dr. Karas in one eye and was about to have the other eye done by him a few years later. I decided against it as I read many negative reviews about him in recent years. I think Dr. Karas is a good doctor but may be it is about time for him to enjoy his golden years. Thanks doctor. I appreciate your work and wish you all the best.

Had RK surgery 25 years ago. Had excellent results. Cataract surgery was about 7 years ago and again excellent results. Dr. Karis is a genius. Was close to legally blind with the RK surgery.

I had RK surgery in 1995 I was 24 I am 51 now and I have 20/20 vision. At the time of the surgery Dr. Karas told me that he could do laser or RK it was my choice. There was over 25 years of history of RK - laser was relatively new - so I opted for RK. I was warned about a side effect of pointed stars in lights at night during driving and it was true - however my brain adjusted to it overtime and I don't notice unless I concentrate on it. I sent my dad to Dr. Karas and Dr. Karas turned him down because he wasn't a candidate for the surgery. I understand there are so many complaints against Dr. Karas at this time. The reason I searched him up was because he told me at the time that he under-corrected one of my eyes so that when I got older I would go longer without the need for reading glasses. He was right. I am 51 and my optometrist told me that "my eyes are younger than me". I have 20/20 vision. He said that the surgery result was exceptional - best he ever saw. I am sorry for those who had bad results and side effects. Dr. K. did my surgery 1 week apart. I didn't go in to do my second I until my first felt perfect.

Low skilled doctor. My mother in low lost her vision after surgery( removing cataract) . And he didn't admit that she had complications after surgery. Meanwhile father in low had same surgery with dr. Karas , had complications. Surgery was redone in Mount Sinai Hospital. I 'm surprised he 's still working, making money by ruining people's life. Very angry!!!

I had the RK surgery in the 1990's with Dr.Karas and I could not be more pleased !! He warned me of a few side effects ie night vision might be a little different .. but all in all I am still very happy ! I actually appeared on the Michael Coren show with him to help share the benefits of RK surgery. I had very little pain and actually phoned Dr. Karas the very next morning to say thank you for giving me the sight I have always wanted ...I could see the photo of my four children in the mirror at the end of the bed, clearly, without aid for the first time ever! Things I thought were purple from a distance .. were actually blue and red !! I certainly feel sadness for those that had or have an issue with their procedures.. I feel fortunate to this point that I remain problem free .. I do wear contacts for reading now ..but at 60 years old, I have enjoyed wonderfully clear vision and freedom from glasses for almost 3 decades .. I w ish you all the best out there .. our eyes are indeed precious .. Inger Farrant
