Saw me in person after I had positive ANA tests. Since I was not in the middle of a flare up she said that I was not presenting with any symptoms and begrudgingly said she would do further blood tests, but she expected nothing. A few weeks later she informs me over the phone that I have cutaneous lupus and there is nothing she can do about it, to go see a dermatologist instead. Dermatologist said I needed a Rheumatologist so I have now been dropped by both doctors and have no one following my autoimmune diseases.

In the process of filing a CPSO complaint against this doctor for substandard care. Told me I absolutely don't have a certain condition, based on blood test results. Turns out nearly half of patients with this condition don't have a positive blood test. When I asked her office about it, she shut me down and refused to refer me to a different rheumatologist who is actually knowledgeable on this condition, citing that she 'saves her referrals for patients who actually need them'. She is one of those doctors that have confirmation bias (who are, sadly, all too common nowadays). Beware. She will help you if she thinks you deserve her help. In my case, she decided I was fine based on a physical exam done over a year ago, blood tests that don't actually prove anything, and literally only asked me if my skin was dry sometimes. Never had the opportunity to talk about anything beyond that before she ended the appointment.

Nope. Very rigid and dismissive. I guess maybe she's compassionate with people she feels deserve compassion, but for the unlucky ones like me who have struggled with health issues for 20 years and told along the way it was all in my head only to find out only recently that I do have two legitimate (but rare) medical conditions, she is not. I still have lots of debilitating symptoms that my two current conditions don't explain/ meds aren't controlling. Yet she had the audacity to tell me 'I should be doing a happy dance my blood test results are negative' for autoimmune disease. I have enough experience with doctors to nope out of there when a doctor says something that arrogant and dismissive. Those types don't understand that some people are legitimately suffering and are as sick as people with these diagnoses, and would rather get the diagnosis and proper treatment than to stay that sick without answers or treatment. But no, she thought I should be jumping for joy at the lack of diagnosis. I get it, no one wants to have lupus. But no one wants to have all the symptoms of lupus and be debilitated and not have a diagnosis. That's much worse. But she doesn't understand that. So bye bye Dr. Morassut.

Where do I start because I want to literally save anyone I can from having to interact with this doctor if I can help it.

I know those of us looking for doctors like Dr. Morassut are doing so out of a deep need to be treated. We come to her because we are sick and desperately need help but she is not the one to go to. I don’t know how she does the job medically, but all I need to know, and all I do know is that she doesn’t value her clients, she doesn’t value their struggle, and she doesn’t value the impact she can offer in minuscule ways.

After speaking with this doctor on the phone about all my medical issues she prescribed me 8 refills of naproxen for my inflammation issues. I remember thinking “8 refills? This doctor hasn’t met me and thinks this many refills of this medication is appropriate?”

Seeing as I am the one who was in need I went against my judgement of her for this and began taking the medication.

I will premise this by saying she did not know I was on leave from work, but at the time this was no concern of hers until my employer wanted her to fill out a medical form regarding my condition and what she is doing to help with it, along with why it was keeping me from work. Now I understand she didn’t know how this condition made it hard for me to work. Even then, some doctors would call and have their secretary ask for this information. Not her. She has her secretary tell me that since she has never seen me in person she knows nothing about my condition.

She tells me to go back to the doctor who put me on leave. I tell her that all she needs to do is account for my illness and nothing more and what does this doctor do? She writes on my form to my insurance that since she hasn’t seen me in person she knows nothing of my illness and that she cannot fill out the form at all.

I reach out to her and explain that medically, since she has prescribed me 8 refills of anti inflammatory medication she should be able to account for something. And so she fills out the form AND leaves the disclaimer on it about knowing nothing about my condition. I couldn’t believe how much this doctor wanted to spite me because I reminded her of her duty to support why she prescribed me medication at the very least. No doctor has ever done such a thing to me or been so unreasonable.

Not only that. We then go into a stay at home order for Covid and I explain to this doctor that I don’t want to put myself at risk of Covid or any illness since I have a poor immune system to pay $40 in person for my note which I hadn’t seen at this point. Her sectary explains there is nothing that can be done even with covid. I have to come in and pay this $40 because people have left the dr. High and dry in the past and I cannot even pay for the note upon my next visit.

Sadly, I go in and pay for the letter after looking it over and missing that the dr. Basically filled out the form saying she shouldn’t be filling it out because she doesn’t know my condition. My mistake.

At this point I will not be asking for a refund of the letter even though it was disregarded by my insurance who laughed and said they didn’t even know why the doctor would fill it out then. Sad but true, there are doctors like this with an axe to grind over things like a medical note and desperate to collect any money even $40 if it means putting a patient at risk. It is disgusting when you consider how much she must make doing her job compared to even me, the person she is supposed to help.

Luckily, I had my family doctor fill out the form no charge and he is the light in this story and a doctor who cares.

This doctor made a poor impression on me and after being told once already by her to find a new doctor for threatening to act on her negligence, I will now be looking for help elsewhere as she suggested. I suggest the same for anyone looking for her help.

I have seen her in numerous occasions, I have never waited less than 49 min and as much as 90 min!
Having said that she is very caring , experienced hence worth the wait
The office looks run down, a little dirty And unsanitary... needs updating
