Doctor refused to refill a prescription through my pharmacist of a medication that shouldn't be interrupted without me first paying 30 dollars. I guess 30 dollars is worth more than me potentially facing adverse side effects of abruptly stopping my medication. There should be a list of medications that are refilled upon request with invoice billing in the case that one forgets to refill a prescription in time. Shame.

Sad, all he does is half listen while typing into his computer. He definitely doesn't show any compassion for patients as they are just a health card swipe (payment) for him. Diet and exercise are irrelevant to drugs apparently.

Dr. Dacre is one of the best . I am getting to the age that I need a few more visits than the usual patient. Always accommodating , knowledgeable and cares about finding an answer to your problems.

He seldom listens to your symptoms rather, he looks at the facts. He spends so much time typing things on the computer that he forgets that a patient is there. He misdiagnoses me for asthma. It is also near impossible to book an appointment when you have an emergency.

Condescending, arrogant, pompous, huge ego and defines himself by his title not his knowledge. He is meanspirited, obviously insecure and doesn't like himself. He is also a pill pusher. Stay as far away from this so called Dr. as you can.

I've been his patient for 20+ years. I get that he can be abrupt and he does like himself alot for sure. But, if you ask him directly exactly what you want to know, he will give you a straight answer. OHIP gives us the basic care we need, but you as a patient have to advocate for yourself. I used to live in Florida and the care there is much better overall, but you pay through the nose for it.
I would leave Dr. Dacre in a heartbeat if I thought he wasn't giving me the straightforward and professional care I want.

I’ve been a patient of doctor Dacre for over 9 years. Today was my last visit.

I was sexually assaulted two years ago at work and only recently have I been able to connect with a therapist I can afford in order to process this trauma.

I visited Dr. Dacre initially after this sexual assault to check if I had any sexually transmitted diseases from the attack and he told me that it would be disastrous for my mental health to pursue legal counsel. I agreed.

During the visit I had today, I informed Dr. Dacre that I had finally found a good therapist and that her and I had discussed that my mental health symptoms were being exacerbated, especially when working at night as that is when I was originally assaulted. Additionally, I had received a death threat earlier this week at work and that was making things really intolerable for me from a mental health standpoint.

Dr. Dacre immediately went on the defensive as soon as I brought up the topic of night shifts. He said that it didn’t make sense that my mental health symptoms were only exacerbated at night, and that if they were exacerbated at night they would also be exacerbated during the day, logically. I explained that this wasn’t the case, that I was experiencing panic during night shifts. He said if I couldn’t work at night then I shouldn’t be working at all and if I didn’t work at night then someone else would have to. His tone was so aggressive, condescending and shocking that I started crying. I felt like I was being attacked. He continued to berate me, telling me that I should have filed a WSIB report at the time of the assault, and that “he wasn’t a lawyer” and that I should seek out a lawyer before filling out any forms with him. Additionally, I had forms sent from my occupational health department for taking a mental health leave (1 day) after the death threat I received at work - he refused to fill out these forms because he said he was “not a police officer”. Additionally, Dr. Dacre asked incredulously why the person at work threatened to kill me - I wondered at the time what that had to do with anything I was telling him. Surely he would understand that it would be upsetting to relive this trauma and that it shouldn’t be asked about in such an accusatory tone. He said that having to sign the WSIB forms “didn’t add up” and to take them back to my Occupational Health and Safety officer.

When I told Dr. Dacre the circumstances of not filing a WSIB claim at the time of the sexual assault, he told me to speak clearer - I couldn’t for I was crying so much having to relive that trauma. When he said I shouldn’t be working at all I said “okay”. At that point, Dr. Dacre abruptly hit a key on his computer closing my file. He stood up and went to the door stating that I should get a lawyer before he filled out any forms. I brought up that at the time of the assault he had told me not to seek legal counsel. He said, “quite right too, I think it would be an absolute disaster. I’ll leave you to think about that”and he left the room. I was stunned and couldn’t understand why he was deliberately being obtuse - was it just because he didn’t want to go to the trouble of filling out forms? Or was it his publicly admitted right wing lean that made my mental health seem like a horrible waste and detriment to his commitment to the Ayn Rand agenda (see his public interviews)?

Dr. Dacre was unnecessarily cruel, callous and showed no empathy for a long term client of his that is suffering immensely after being sexually assaulted and being treated poorly by a doctor she thought she could trust and speak to “like a friend” - as his website claims.

He listens before speaking, and seems to genuinely care about the health of his patients.

It's difficult to rate his knowledge as I'm not an MD. As a patient though I can confirm he is as described: impatient, completely full of himself, and at times even mean-spirited. If you need any further proof of his lack of compassion, Google "The Invisible Mentor Dr. Roger Dacre". You'll be treated to a screed about an early encounter with a couple of drug addicts he declined to take on as patients, his parents' dismay, and and his own self-congratulatory, deeply twisted response about ethics. Of course Ayn Rand is a hero. I've long imagined my relief when he retires.
