Biography

Dr. Petkar has been practicing medicine for 39 years, and is currently practicing at Pioneer Medical Group in the city of South Gate, CA. In addition to Hindi and Marathi, Dr. Petkar also speaks Spanish. For over 22 years she has been practicing medicine in the Los Angeles area providing exceptional patient care to the Latino community. Dr. Petkar is passionate about caring for her patients. “To keep healthy, not only is it important to look after our physical health, but it is also vital to care for our mental and social health as well. Getting exercise, eating a healthy diet, and maintaining a positive mental state is key to keeping most medical problems at bay.” A graduate from B. J. Medical College, Pune, India, Dr. Petkar has practiced medicine in four countries including India, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, U. A. E., and the U.S. Having practiced as an obstetrician and gynecologist in India, Dr. Petkar is passionate about women’s health, and hopes to help women and their families as well enjoy healthier lives through patient education and healthy lifestyle changes. Dr. Petkar comes from a family of doctors, including her grandfather and uncle. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her daughter and her son who is a practicing vitreo retinal surgeon.
