Pains me to write this review because I was excited to be seen by someone with great reviews after moving to the area and having bad experiences with MedStar affiliated doctors. I spent a year trying to get a provider after my original choice moved practices. A week researching led me to Dr. Gomez and Dr. Lee. Dr. Gomez’s next appt was months out so I scheduled a visit with her. In the interim, I had multiple costly (and unhelpful visits to urgent care/ER) and couldn’t wait months to be seen. Dr. Lee was identified as a provider who was not only was taking new patients, but the online scheduling tool showed she had several times available for visits. I was able to book the appt, received online confirmations, and was sent the link to pre-register and did so. When I got to my appt (after spending the weekend convincing myself to tough it out and not waste time and resources on another urgent care visit), I was rudely turned away. After waiting to check in, the woman at the desk asked me my name. After repeating twice, I heard whispers that she wasn’t even there and had called that she wasn’t going to see “that patient”. The woman (who barely could even look up for her seated position at the desk) abruptly said, “Yeah, we left you a message. You already have an appt with Dr. Gomez and Dr. Lee isn’t taking new patients. Ok, sorry… bye”. Confused by this cold interaction, I asked why it is posted that she IS taking new patients and had me register and confirm. She turned around and just shrugged and said “it’s a glitch I guess” and turned to start speaking with the next patient. No trying to assist me in getting care. No apologies. Simply the most unprofessional interaction I’ve ever seen with a medical staff. This is exactly why the cost of health care is astronomical and people go without proper care after paying thousands into insurance. Perhaps Dr. Lee is a great doctor but needs a more compassionate support team who professionally communicates and is committed to caring for those with health concerns. Or perhaps I am just accustomed to a higher level of professionalism and commitment to caring for patients.
