My family member has been seeing this doctor and he continued her on the synthroid meds even when the diagnosis should be subclinical hypothyroidism. From a test that a Nurse Practitioner had to order he saw that the T3 and T4 levels were within normal range.

I noticed when the Synthroid drug prescription was increased, my family member's cognitive problems also went up.

Furthermore this doctor refused to work with the naturopath who recommended thyroid helps and he did not consider the T3 and T4 tests that had returned normal.

This doctor may be loyal and do what it takes to make you happy but beware if you are not the one making the decisions and the decisions are wrong. He lets my family member go without her hearing aids when she desperately needs them to help her cognition.

Under his care my family member lost close to 45 lbs. This is squarely to do with the synthoid med and likely she now has hyperthyroidism but I doubt he will take the tests necessary.

I have no idea on Staff or Punctuality so I will rate them at 1s as well.

Dr. Ulrich Lauf has been my Dr for some years now, I really like his approach. He takes his time to listen, he makes sure all your questions are answered and he is really empathic. I like how reassuring his voice is, he tells you things like they are and offer alternative. He's very respectful and actually takes a genuine interest in what brings you in.

Okay so my pharmacy won’t give me my iron pills until I get blood work redone.
So I went and saw a doctor at a walk-in clinic. (September 16th 2021)

I told him I just need the form to go get my blood work done because of my anemia. He then tells me that most women have anemia because of their periods and they are constantly bleeding and birth control helps with the loss of blood.
I told him I am aware of that and I have an IUD, and I just need to go get my blood work redone so I can renew my iron pills.

He tells me I probably don’t need iron pills because I’m on birth control. I told him that’s why I need to redo my blood work, but I’m pretty sure I still need my pills because I have fainting spells. He then tells me that in a few years when I don’t have my IUD anymore because I’m getting pregnant that I will need my iron pills then.

I told him I do not plan on ever getting pregant and I want to adopt in the future. This is where it gets weird. He straight up goes on a rant about how I should get pregnant while I’m young. He says that Romeo and Juliet were 13, and that society has tricked women into following “their dreams and trying to reach goals” when thier Biological clock doesn’t understand these goals. He then says most 20 year olds are adult teenagers and that back in the day men were ready to start a family by 19. He also said 15 years old is a good age to get pregnant and have kids.

I tell him I don’t want to give birth and I’m adopting. He then says that adoption isn’t a thing anymore??? He explains by saying that back in the day they would take away babies because they don’t want single moms but these days there aren’t any kids for adoption because everyone is a single mom. I tell him my little sister is adopted. He says “I’m glad that worked out for your sister and she found a loving family. But you really don’t want to adopt someone else’s problems. Most babies these days for adoption are drug addicts.”

He continues by saying that most women want to have babies in their 30’s and that is simply too old to have a baby. He then tells me that the “soil in my garden is most fertile when I’m 20, and any mother over 25 is too old to give birth.” I tell him I don’t want kids. And he tells me I will change my mind and regret not having kids young. And then he told me that I’m 23 and so I better start searching for “Mr.Right” soon!!!

I came to get a form so I can go do blood work not get “educated” on pregnancy.

Dr. Lauf does what Dr. Lauf wants. He is NEVER on time - I was the first appt of the day many times (9am) and I’d see him stroll into the clinic at 910, me not being seen till 930. Seems to have no respect for anyones time and often left waiting for hours. His ego often gets in the way - if you don’t agree with or question what he wants to do he’s very unsupportive. I found he asked inappropriate questions on more than one occasion and talked about himself more then the concern I was there for. Put up with his antics for too long, happily left!

Dr Lauf has been my family doctor for years. Some people get discouraged when he is late but I know first hand that he will take the time with patients who need the help because I have been one of those patients who needed extra care when the diagnosis called for it. Dr Lauf is a true caring family doctor.
