No doubt the BEST ortho doctor. A life saver. The other doctors call him “The Big Dog” ! He is a master in his craft. I am soooo lucky to have him. Multiple successful surgeries on knees destroyed by by a waterskiing accident. I travel from CT to see him.

I have been struggling from a tarsal coalition which in laymen’s terms is when two bones are fusing together. I have been dealing with the pain for a very long time and thank to Dr. Micheli I no longer have that. After 2 surgery’s , months of casts and boots and 3 different consults, one of which told me I would never heal. I was referred to Dr. Micheli. He did a great job and got be back into life. I was very young when first treated being taken out of competitive sports that I had dedicated my life to. Now I can return to all of that.

I was somehow assigned to this surgeon in 2009 when I was 25. I was at an orthopedic doctor's office and told her I refused to have surgery, after that I was ushered down the hall into another small room with glass walls, that looked more like a waiting room where then FIVE OR SIX men (doctors) including Dr. Lyle Micheli surrounded me and BULLIED me into having the surgery I didn't want. That was the ONLY time I saw the doctor before or after my surgery. I didn't actually ever talk with the surgeon while I was lucid. The only time this doctor made himself known to me was after I was administered heavy drugs and upon waking from anesthesia which I do very poorly with. A couple months later, the procedure to remove hardware that was put in place by Dr. Micheli was a day surgery in this shady medical building off of rt. 2 in the woods and there were about 12 people in the room (a young man among them who was very hands-on as I slipped into unconsciousness) and the doctor himself was nowhere in sight, nor did I ever see him. Any surgeon that BULLIES patients into surgery has a questionable practice. Furthermore I should say that I've since seen a physical therapist that's informed me that the leg that on the leg that Micheli operated on- the bones feel fused together! Which indicates he did something wrong in this procedure. It was this experience that led me to believe that patients should be entitled to video tapes of their surgeries. There's something shady and discomforting ALL AROUND about this surgeon and his practice.

After 8 years of searching for my daughter's problem I requested a referral to Dr. Micheli. He took things one step at a time, diagnosing each problem until he found the major one, a congenital condition, that had been missed by every pc, orth and neurologist we had seen. He referred us to the best specialist for surgery and then guided PT following the surgery, enabling my daughter to return to all of the sports and activities she loves. Yes, we sometimes waited hours because he is a dedicated, excellent doctor, who wants to help everyone who seeks his medical expertise - and he is an expert, the best of the best. He listens to the patient, does not linger, but is an excellent diagnostician and gets excellent results. My daughter first saw him in 1996, had surgery in 1998, and he is the first doctor she would call today with an ortho problem. He also considers alternative therapies when appropriate, another plus for Dr. Micheli.

My daughter (age 11 had ACL surgery last Aug. 09.I have been to his office many, many times and never felt that our wait was long.He is a very busy doctor who tries to accomidate all. He has always given my daugher the opportunity to speak and is an attentive listener. He did not rush her and did not run out of the office when she broke down. Recently we called with some concerns and had an appointment right away. Found out that she tore her meniscus. We are from NY - and his staff got us an appointment for an MRI that day, in Boston. Dr. Micheli then saw us again right after the MRI where his suspecisons were confirmed. His staff even offered to find us a hotel to stay at because we missed our ferry. What more could you ask for - a top notch doctor, and an attentive and helpful staff. My daugther is 12 now, and my husband and I feel fortunate that she is in such good hands. We live 6 hours away from Boston and only 21/2 hours from NYC. Boston @ Dr. Mi Micheli is our choice.

Dr Micheli is not as good as people say. I'm tring to figure out why he is thought to be such a great doctor. He destroyed my knees and claimed physical therapy would fix it. He was wrong. I have waited as long 5 hours to see him for three mins and him not even do a physical exam on my knees.
