He delivered my baby and was excellent. All through pregnancy he gave sound advice and helped my wife easily give birth to a beautiful healthy baby girl naturally with zero drugs.
During labor, when the nurse was avoiding her duties, he was appropriately assertive and helped the nurse do her job properly.
Every single visit and especially for birth-Dr Surkan was stellar and I really wanted him for my 2nd born but have since moved away.
He was a lot like a Midwife but also a good doctor...couldnt have had a better doctor.

Stay far away from this Dr. If you have any medical issues because he doesn't investigate the problem and you find yourself in cicu with a heart condition and failing organs like my father just did. After over 20years of complaints about leg pain we moved him back to Calgary to find out he has severe blockages in his femoral arteries in both legs. The lack of blood flow and oxygen has caused his heart and every other vital organ to die slowly

I agree with many of the other's assessments. Dr. Surkan does not like to refer you to a specialist. He is not keeping up to date with medical journals and thus doesn't know any of the new treatments or medicines available. Sending patients to specialist just takes from his pocket due to the extra work needed in writing up a referral, the loss of income to the specialist and the embarrassment that he doesn't know what he is doing anymore. He is riding things out for retirement. Other doctors won't take his patients until he retires… please oh please be soon. You will be much better served at a walk-in clinic.

Dr D Surkan is very ignorant and doesn't remember what he doing. His knowledge is very limited to writing prescriptions. Not very helpful, can' t remember test he ordered so can't get results. He's there for the money. He shouldn't be in a position of care, because he doesn't understand the word (Care). He starts every visit by saying he unhappy. He said my care is too complicated because there are three specialists involved with my very serious health problems. Would not recommend this Doctor to anyone, you would be better off seeing a VET.

I am fairly new to the area and have only had two doctors, the last one being on the coast. I was very nervous about looking for a new doctor but my sister found Doctor David Surkan for my father and me. I really like him as does my father. He really put me at ease as I have extreme bouts of anxiety and his patience was much appreciated. I feel that I could confide any of my concerns with him and and be confident that I would walk out of his office feeling better. I hope he stays in Penticton for a long time. I give him my highest rating..Bonnie is a pleasant person to great the patients..His wife is a lucky woman..

Bonnie and Nancy are great my kids like them too. I usually get in right on time although sometimes things happen like babies coming into this world. I have never come to him with any problems he couldnt help with. I also really apreciate the fact everyone in the office goes out of their way to make the patients comfortable.
