I had 3 sessions with this therapist and it was a nightmare. She was cruel, arrogant, dismissive and openly hostile. She was recommended to me as an 'expert' in people that were raised by a personality disordered parent. A warning to anyone traumatized by a parent: DON'T GO TO THIS THERAPIST. After my second and third visit I cried my eyes out waiting for my bus at the bus stop. Maybe this approach is great with some people but I felt traumatized afterwards. At the end of the third visit she said, 'I have a treatment plan for you but frankly I don't think you can take it'. I never went back.

I have so many negative things to say about Dr. Angelopoulos. I saw her years ago and we seemed to be on a somewhat constructive path, although she was ver cold and she was extremely argumentative but things really went off the rails when we discovered that we had a conflict of interest, after which she became absolutely hostile to me. Her hostility was shocking and became so unbearable that I had to file a complaint with the hospital and I told them that there was a serious conflict. She then phoned me to try talk me into coming back but she was so terrible and hostile, I would never have done so and I could never have trusted her again and because of that I did not get the help I needed. Absolutely horrible psychologist. I am considering a lawsuit.

I have gone to several therapists and always felt uncomfortable until I met Dr. Angelopolous. I find her very effective, and she has a kind and compassionate approach that made me feel accepted and not judged. I highly recommend her.

I saw her for a few sessions before I decided she wasn’t a good fit. I found her confrontational which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but she didn’t go about confronting me in a diplomatic manner, and when she did evoke a response from me she did nothing to validate any of my feelings and so I left the sessions feeling vulnerable and kind of stupid honestly. She tried to convince me I hated my brother and when I told her I don’t hate him, she rolled her eyes as if she didn’t believe me. I’m sure her approach would help some people but I found it a little too “in your face” for me.

It amazes me how life decisions can be left in the hands of people who treat you with such arrogance. A lesson in compassion would do her well. Get a second opinion.

Amazing psychologist i have sexual abuse issues and she is the best in her field, this Doctor i hold the highest regard for always kind listens well helps to understand the issues and willingly filled out forms and helped me deal with my terrible boss and work situation never judged me and when i tested her YES I TESTED HER ABILITIES she blew me away! I first thought what a waste of time so i mentally challenged her and when she called my bluff all i could do was smile and laugh she read me like a book. i will be seeing her for many years to come i hope i would recommend seeing her and give her a chance to do her thing a lifetime of problems cant be solved in one or two sessions and if you really want the help she is there to give it. If i had to pay out of my pocket i would do it willingly oh and she did not charge me an arm and leg (doctor humor ha)to fill out CPP forms.

I saw several therapists over a five year period and Maria was most certainly the best and most effective therapist I have ever worked with. I saw others who came across as caring and kind, but all they did was hold my hand and let me marinate in my issues. Maria helped me to see them in a very compassionate and realistic way. Would recommend to anyone who wants to do the tough work at getting better.

She treated me with disdain from the moment I walked in and handed me a diagnosis within 15 min of talking to me, that apparently had it's basis in one comment I made. She seemed to want to engage in an antagonistic exchange, which I did not humor her in. And yes, she sighed and rolled her eyes repeatedly. I feel this woman may be capable of doing harm in certain situations where a client is actually feeling quite vulnerable.
