I have been a patient of Dr. Vanderburg's since he joined Salem Clinic. I see him every six months to review my blood work and a general check-up. He has never rushed me or acted uninterested in my questions or concerns. There are times he can run late due to emergencies with other patients, I don't mind because he has no control over this. On a side note, you can always call his office a few hours prior to your appointment to see if he is running late and adjust you arrival time. My husband also sees Dr. Vanderburg and he absolutely feels comfortable with him. I highly recommend Dr. Vanderburg.

I've been suffering from what I now know is peripheral neuropathy for 7 years and in at least a hundred office visits he's said we can try this or that but when it didn't work I was told to make another appointment to discuss it with him again. I recently reviewed my medical records and found dozens of unfounded diagnoses but he never tested for any then or even mentioned them to me. I finally insisted on a referral to a neurologist and he even stated in my chart that I insisted. I've been in horrible pain for years and was made to feel like I was exaggerating my symptoms. He's very compassionate but truly indifferent to suffering. I feel betrayed because I thought he had my best interest at heart. My health has deteriorated under his care and I'm now disabled and unable to work and to think I waited in his examination room for sometimes up to an hour only to be pacified and drive home in tears because he offered no help at all. The staff in his office are always cold and aloof.

Dr. Vanderburg was covering for my doctor who was out of town. My doctor wrote a prescription and my health insurance was rejecting it. It was either a name brand and a substitution was needed or amount was too high. My doctor just calls in an alternative. Dr. Vanderburg had his staff call me back and told me to use an over the counter product. I went to my doctor six weeks ago after using the over the counter product for two weeks. I returned a week ago when prescription drug was not working. I am now scheduled for surgery for failure of drug therapy. And, Dr. Vanderburg would not fix the prescription mix up to keep me comfortable until my surgery. Unbelievable. Had he read my chart he would have seen that over the counter medication failed to work six weeks ago!!!!

Dr. Vanderburg is thorough, thoughtful, respectful and compassionate. If he ever runs behind, please forgive him. Maybe it is because he squeezed someone into the schedule who just lost her husband in a tragic accident, like he did for me yesterday. It could be you next. Thank you, Dr. V!

I went here as a follow up to an emergency room visit and Dr. Vanderburg did absolutely nothing for me except bill me $142. I had to go to Salem Urgent Care for the help I needed later that night because I was in so much pain. He also claims to be a Christian, but he sure seemed more worried about the fact that I was uninsured than helping a brother out. I honestly didn't think he was going to bill me for the 15 minutes he spent to tell me there was nothing he would do for me, but he did, so I feel obligated to submit this review.

My wife made an appointment with Dr. Vanderburgh because of swollen lymph nodes behind her ears. Dr. Vanderburgh told her not to worry, it was only a small infection. He did no lab test or any kind of test prior to making this statement. My wife was given a prescription and told not to worry. A year later, after many trips to Dr. Vanderburgh with complaints of night sweats, nausea and pain in the lower back---I had to call an ambulance and my wife was taken to Salem ER. There we found that a fifteen inch tumor in her lower stomach had gotten so big it had broken her spine in two places. She was diagnosed with Non-Hodgens lymphoma, fourth stage, and told that the cancer had been in her body for more that three years. We are still in a life and death battle with the cancer and my wife is living a life of hell. If only Dr. Vanderburgh had been a real Doctor and had followed up on the swollen lymph nodes, our lives would be much happier today. If Doctor Vanderburgh is your Doctor,Change now
