One of the best. I hate how people come in with strange cases and expect a doctor to know in an instant what is wrong by the description you give. They are human beings, not human medical dictionaries. Believe it or not they have to look things up sometimes. He always takes time to sit down with me and explain things, and always tells me where I can get a certain prescription cheaper. I have been going to him for 10 years and he has never been late and I have never felt rushed during my appointment. Everyone in the office is friendly and helpful. I now live in Grand Rapids and still dive to this office.

When my dr. moved to another state, my case was given to Dr. Merz. I was 12. I have cronic ear infections, and he would never believe me when I came in with an ear infection in the first 3 days, since he was unable to see the red eardrum. After 22 years of chronic infections, I know within a few hours of the infection. Also, I had all sorts of issues with my menstral cycle and gained over 100 lbs. two years in a row. That should be alarming in anyone, but especially in an active 12-14 year old child with a proper diet. I also have every other textbook sign of Poly-Cystic Ovarian Sydrome. He missed it. For 7 years I complained of problems and he told me that they were just normal. When my cycle disappeared for 6 months (and myself a virgin), I begged to see another dr. who diagnosed me correctly with PCOS in my first visit to her. I've been with her ever since without a problem. What a wonderous thing to have a dr. who believes me when I say something is wrong with my own body.

Dr. Merz is really good for taking care of problems and he can usually figure out what is going on with a patient. If he does not know what is wrong he has a great support from the other doctors at the practice

Dr.Merz delivers babies. DO NOT go to him.He missed my son being born and he literally fell as he was born. No other doctor was called or showed up. I DO NOT recommend this doctor or ANY doctor affiliated with Hackley Hospital. That place is a death trap and I wouldn't send my dog to their ER or hospital. I think many greedy and evil people work there. Gave me the heebie jeebiez. Stay away! Go to Grand Rapids if you have to!
