I have lost a lot of weight, for that reason I had to reduce my candesartan from 8 mg. to 4 mg. My family dr. told me, that candesartan protects the kidneys, that I should go to 8 mg. again. I did but my blood pressure goes really low. I phoned dr. Copland, and his secretary, after telling him my situation, dr. Copland said that I should go back to my GP. He never called me back. Isn't he my specialist? Before I would have given him 5 stars, but now, I am really puzzled about his response. I think he is not being very professional at all.

I have seen Dr. Michael Copland now for nine years and I travel nine hours just to do so. He is current on his knowledge and stays well informed with new research to keep his practice relevant. I would and have trusted him with my kidney health for years and will continue to do so. I am young and have a long ways to go in life. He has done nothing but support me in all my decisions and is always willing to help me achieve my goals with my health as his #1 priority. I can appreciate a physician who respects his client's autonomy the way he does. It is very important to me as a client. I also appreciate the fact that he explains everything to me and has never underestimated my ability to comprehend or participate in a conversation regarding my health. He also has amazing assistants working with him who are always so kind to me. What a huge difference going to a city health centre makes in quality of care!

Dr. Copland is knowledgeable, thorough, extremely good at what he does, and a very kind and caring doctor as well. I have seen him for 6 years now for a complicated and rare disorder, and he has been a lifesaver (literally) in the sea of confusion that is our health care system. He doesn't hesitate to investigate a condition that has nothing to do with your kidneys if he feels it is warranted, and he follows up on every test he orders. He is remarkably accessible for a specialist, as well. Anybody would be lucky to have him as their doctor. I have been very grateful for his skill and expertise through the years.

I met Dr. Copeland when he was a Fellow at St. Pauls Hospal and I was a dialysis patient. I was interested in Home Hemo dialysis and he was interested in starting this a program. Eventually, he got the program started. It now benefits me, and hundreds of other patients across BC. I started dialysis in 1982 and have had the great fortune of getting some of the best Nephrologists in the world. Dr. Copeland is one of the those doctors. He is very intelligent,caring, empathetic and has a great sense of humour. My appointments with him are always positive, no matter what health issues I face. I am so grateful for his care.
