Dr Long may be a competant surgeon, but his secretary books people in from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm for procedures and follow up visits, while he is in surgery for 4-5 hours! You are left waiting in the waiting area for 4 hours until he comes out of surgery, and has lunch etc., and then he sees you, for 30 seconds and tells you to come back in a month!!! How can you book patients in when you are in surgery? I think he is scamming the health care system! Not impressed with the care at St Joseph's hospital, and the staff just leave you in emergency until you complaint 5 times, then they bring you in the back for care!

I was referred to Elliot Lake for gallbladder after being in another hospitas emerge several times . And I can not thank Dr long and his team enough for everything they did for me . At the other hospital no one was listening to me on how much pain I truly was in I just kept getting pumped full of pain killers . I had a different surgeon who wouldn't listen to me on how much pain I was in it was always your on the list . My family dr would just hand out more pain meds. But Elliot Lake hospital heard me as a person and not just a number they took me seriously and was going to operate the day I got there but I turned out I had stones in my bike duct so they couldn't . They did an amazing job helping me stay comfort and reassuring me I would be okay. I had to go threw a few procedures to get my stones blasted in Sudbury and I even had a lovely nurse named Connie join me for one of my procedures and she's a Angel so sweet that girl . Thank you Connie . Dr long and the rest of the team who helped me get better and don't shove more meds down my throat. You all are truly amazing and I can't tank you enough my kids now have a mom who's no longer suffering in pain and can eat meals with them again. From the bottom of my heart thank you for your time .

Doctor Long , is great he has put me back together a few times. Warning he tells it like it is so if you are looking for someone to sugar coat your problem he is the wrong surgeon. Doctor Long has been a staple in our community since the 70 s, we could not have been more blessed. A personal big thank you Doc.

Dr. Long is negligent, arrogant and should no longer be treating patients in any capacity! My sister was in extremely poor health due to the negligent care of another Elliot Lake physician and Dr. Long scheduled her for an out-patient procedure for which she would have been put under. Keep in mind that she had had a full examination by him prior to this and thankfully, she did not have the procedure done. Why? Because she was so ill that the morning of the procedure she was rushed to a city hospital where she received the proper care she needed immediately as upon arrival, the city Dr.'s found she had an enlarged heart, a massive growth on her bladder and pneumonia...had she been put under for Dr. Long's procedure, she would have never woken up. And, he does not like overweight people...he is very prejudice against them!

Dr. Long was my doctor for many years when I lived in Elliot Lake. He is blunt, always got to the point, but he's caring and quite knowledgeable. When my mom was visiting, she went to see him as she had serious problems with her elbow. She was misdiagnosed in Sudbury, and he found that she had tuberculosis of the bone, which he treated, and did the surgery. He always went above and beyond. He was fit and healthy, and expressed to his patients that they need to eat healthy and exercise to be healthy, which is preventative medicine.

THe College of Physicians and Surgeon has his certificate as inactive as of December 2017. Anyone considering having surgery done by this man had better contact the college first. I know 4 people who recently had surgery done by him and all of them had huge complications, some in intensive care for months. Never have surgery done by any doctor until the College is contacted to get the doctor's history.

If I ended up in the emergency and he was on call, I'd get my husband to drive me to Sudbury. Abrasive, unkind and listens to no one, even other real specialists.
