I was experiencing continued symptoms post Covid infection 10 weeks later. I was referred to Dr. Jackson by my PCP. He did not seem to care about listening to my symptoms, he only heard what he wanted to hear, he rushed though the appointment and focused on my weight as the cause for my issues . I had a Gastric sleeve several years ago and he very rudely asked me if it worked (FYI- I weigh less than 180 lbs). I understand I am overweight but COVID was the reason for my symptoms not my weight. He told me my BP was high and it probably has been high but no one checked before. I let him know I’m diabetic so I get checked every three months. My BP was high bc I’d been sick for 10 weeks. He scheduled an echo for a few days later, rushed me out telling me he thinks I’m just overweight and need HBP medicine but he will do the ECHO just in case. After the ECHO he didn’t reach out to me personally, rather he sent me a note through the portal reiterating his believe that I have HBP and that my symptoms are because I am overweight. He completely ignored my concerns and made assumptions about me and my health without really asking appreciate questions. He brushed me off and was very rude. I left his office feeling very defeated. He wrote off the issues I was having but if he truly Felt that my issues were because I was overweight he could have provided proper nutritional counseling or referred me to another provider who could have assisted but he didn’t. He was rude and extremely unprofessional. I will not refer anyone to him ever.

This physician will fire you in a heartbeat, no pun intended. Essentially, he fired me as a patient because he wanted me off a blood thinner that 5 of my other doctors wanted me on, in view of the fact that I have a history of pulmonary embolisms. He left me on a medication that, I feel, caused my liver enzymes to shoot way up and it was a drug, amiodarone that is usually used as a last resort especially with the elderly and those with fatty liver disease. 2 times my calls were not returned. He is a good doctor, but I feel he has an ego as big as a barn. He is not a team player, and is not willing to work with other physicians who have different views than his, even if he is outnumbered. I was terribly disappointed with him, although initially I really liked him. Once he told me on the phone that my case was beginning to be too complicated for him. Personally, I think he was trying to unload me for some time and just had a feeling that he is not wild about caring for Medicare patients. I hope that I am wrong on this. Otherwise, he is personable, but he will unload you as a patient for whatever reason he chooses and backs it up with a formal letter CC'd to his chief operating Officer. I have been a nurse for 46 years and 11 of those years I worked in the same hospital as this physician. I would have preferred a face to face discussion with him. Things work out for the best. I have a cardiologist I feel I can talk to and treats me with the respect that I feel any patient deserves and is not offended by challenging questions that I ask him.

My husband and I have used Dr. Jackson for years but we are both thinking of finding a new cardiologist. Although Dr. Jackson is great, his office staff is deplorable. I have had promises of calls back that I never got. I have had to call the office several times about one issue and was told I would get a call back. Never happened. Every time I call I have to go through my story all over again and am told that someone will call back. I even asked for Dr. Jackson to call me and he never did. He has in the past so I believe he was never given that message. Last visit there, while waiting in the exam room, the receptionist came in because she thought I had forgotten my Drivers License and insurance card. She handed them to me. They belonged to someone else. Unfortunately a good doctor will lose patients when his office staff is unprofessional.

I was at the ER for heart palpitations and racing and Dr. Jackson was the cardiologist on call. He had me make an appt which took me a week to get, and when I finally saw him, he ignored the fact that the Benicar HCT I was taking was causing the palpitations and instead, gave me a stronger dose and a prescription for Nadolol which is a very strong beta blocker (and a prescription for lipitor). I came back for a required stress test and he ignored the fact that I had no energy, felt light headed and out of breath, and could hardly move. He never asked about my diet, and didn't schedule or do a follow up. After months of suffering, I finally found a competent doctor who removed the HCT, decreased the Benicar, adn put my on a low dose of beta blocker which I will probably be able to stop soon. He also discussed my diet to reduce cholesterol rather than indiscriminately prescribing a dangerous statin drug. I would avoid Dr. Jackson at all costs, even if he is covered by insurance!
