I’ve been a patient since 90s. While I didn’t have major health care needs, I found Dr. McIsaac to be empathetic and helpful, and a VERY careful listener, with some very practical interventions for minor probs., which he has helped me a lot with. I had no issues with his office filling or renewing an occasional prescription. I found them flexible and practical—for minor issues.

I had some cardiac issues cropping up about 7 years ago and was supposed to get a holter test, but this fell through the cracks somehow with his office. His practice was too big—I should have acted accordingly when he went into the botox biz, etc. So I used him sparingly.

My cardiac issues blew up in 2020 at start of COVID and the receptionist was like a brick wall, saying appointments were only by Zoom. At other times before that I was told it would take weeks to get an appointment. I did not find her rude, however. But you can’t do a cardiac assessment by Zoom! This was very disappointing and a big concern to me. She never got back to me either. I’ve gone to Appletree since, with my de facto status the last few years, and actually since 2017 been, “family doctor in name only”. This was compounded when I saw his practice put under a restricted certificate by the CPSO, which confirmed my issue with lack of follow-up.

If you check the CPSO website, they now say how you can get your medical records. Does anyone know if he can or will sell his medical practice to a new physician? Sounds ideal for a new GP, or esp. a partnership of two. The CMA is all for having a model now where several GPs partner in a single practice, which would solve the access, paperwork and follow-up issues with McIsaac’s overburdened practice. Is this something that happens, or are several thousand patients just cut loose to fend for themselves?

Dr McIsaac has been my dr for many years and has always addressed my concerns in a kind and professional manner. This past year I've noticed a change in him and was concerned for him and his health.
Recently, his clinic closed unexpectantly and I understand that dr's are not always able to give notice to their patients due to decline, illness etc. He is human after all. I do hope that he is able to enjoy the remainder of his years with family and friends and look after himself as he has done for so many. I've rated him for his many years of looking after my ailments. Thank you for your dedication Dr. McIsaac. Take care of yourself.

I'm sure Dr McIsaac is a very nice man, but he should no longer be practicing. I'm not sure what is up with him but he has literally fallen asleep during appointments, forgotten what medication he is writing a prescription for immediately after just writing my name, and then writing the wrong dose. He asked ME what he was writing my prescription for. I could have told him a three month supply Oxycontin and he wouldn't have blinked. He is cognitively not ok, and it is dangerous for him to still be practicing.

I hope patients are contacting CPSO to air their concerns. Doctors have an obligation to notify their patients about a closing of their practice and to advise next steps. I am not surprised it is closed, however. Faxes not sent, files lost, rude behavior from staff. Until we are advised further, my best guess is that his license was revoked.

Hugh has been my doctor for 38 years and, until the past 5 or so years has provided adequate care. The past 5 years his score has dropped from marginal to unacceptable! I am not qualified to give other than my observations: Hugh apparently has a failing memory. Appointments are inconclusive. Fax requests from the pharmacy require multiple requests over several days to get action. Referrals suffered the same fate or never happened. We have been urgently seeking a new doctor for several years! Something dramatic seems to have just happened as his practice just closed without warning. This is a good thing! This doctor caused me stress, and delivered poor service.

Can someone let patients know why the office is closed permanently and have no explanation as just the voicemail saying due to unforeseen. That’s not good for patients as now we have no doctor!! Thank you

Hugh McIsaac has been my doctor since 1985. The first 35 years were quite good but as I aged and need more and specialised care I found he was not keeping up and changing doctors was nearly impossile: we have been trying for years!

I was concerned in September when I met for a check up and shingles vax. Called for a follow up appointment on Oct 23 and recording now states his office is officially closed.

Current receptionist is extremely rude and should be fired. Not only does she not answer the phone now, you can't leave a message either. I'm supposed to see the doctor every 3 months and have been trying to talk to someone for over 7 months. Thankfully i was able to find a new doctor. Both my father and I have been Drl McIsaac's patient for over 25yrs..both have transfered our files to new doctors. Feel sorry for anyone who is still going here
