I first met Dr. Margetlith in February of 1993. I had my firt breast cancer and he was my oncologist. Wonderful man and tops in his field as far as I was concerned. Unfortunately, my breast cancer came on the other side and again Dr. Margelith took care of me. I can't say enough about his care and concern for his patients. I even moved with him to the then new Pavillion. I've sinced moved out of the area but I had another issue and went straight to Dr. Margelith for a second opinion. His opinion turned out to be right on the money and I was treated at UCSD in 2007 for ovarian cancer where I've run into another fabulos doctor, Michael Mchale. Whereever I am in Southern California I'm comforted by the fact that I can go to either one and feel completely confident I'll be taken care of. Thank you for the opportunity of letting me say "Thank You" to him.

I have been with Dr. Margileth for almost 6 yrs as his patient. He is extremely caring and thorough. He is very knowledgeable about the latest cancer protocols.I am one of those patients that makes sure the doctor knows I am in charge of my treatment. They well understand that and support me.Another person mentioned that he seemed "tired" Well 4:30 is the last patient timeslot, she needs to understand that he has a mentally and emotionally taxing job, and that being tired is a result of being invested. He is a VERY caring man and that's hard for someone in the position of watching your patients sometimes die. I have stage IV now, it hit him pretty hard because I am very young. I trust him completely but I am also the one who makes all of the decisions regarding my health. I suggest people take control of their disease. Tap the resources of this intelligent man but make smart decisions, ie; educate yourself.

I went to see Dr. Margelith for a consultation about my recurrence. I will say he gave me enough time but he sure seemed awful tired. I felt like I was keeping him awake. But in his defense it was the end of the day...I was scheduled at 4:30 PM. He answered my questions but I really went there for his recommendations about my chemo options. He just read the recommendations I already had from two other oncologist and agreed with them. No new input...nothing. He comes across very dry and impersonal. Not real friendly at all. (That is probably just how he is?) I wasn't impressed with the physical exam at all. It was too quick and he hardly felt for anything. When you have a very aggressive stage III cancer you WANT a GOOD exam. He barely touched me. I was hoping I was going to like him so I would have a new oncologist as I'm not happy with mine. But we weren't a good match I suppose. He was sitting down leaning his chin on his hand the entire time like he was ready to go to sleep.:(

I was treated for breast cancer in 2008 by Dr. Margileth. He is a wonderful doctor - takes his time with you and explains everything in detail. I was never kept waiting. His staff is absolutely awesome. Any time I had a problem, they were right on top of it. A phone call was alway returned immediately. Having cancer was a scary thing, but I felt that I was in the best of hands. The new cancer center at St. Joseph's in Orange is top notch.
