I have been a patient of Dr. Sladek for 20 yrs. No more abuse from his receptionist/sister-in-law Mimi & wife! I even told Dr. Sladek he would lose patience’s due to Mimi’s bad attitude towards patients. I decided to leave when another doctor told me your body your choice! I had to wait 6 months to get in with my son’s rheumatologist, but it was well worth the wait! Adios Dr. Sladek it has not been a pleasure over the past 20 years! More like torture!

I have been seeing Dr. Sladek for 2 years to treat my lupus. Dr. Sladek has never requested or reviewed my bloodwork to see if I was experiencing a flare up or inflammation and never did X-rays to examine the health of my joints. The inflammation that I was experiencing was so bad that it cause my dialysis access to stop working because of the pressure being put on my access. His only concern was to try to get me off Prednisone and suggest Benlysta but never prescribed it. He once asked if I knew my bone density and when I answered no and asked if I should know this, he said I could go to any radiology office, however he never referred me to anyone. His receptionist staff is very unfriendly. I would NOT recommend

I do not recommend this Rheumatologist. I used this practice for several years before deciding I couldn’t any longer put up with the staff, inconvenience and apparent lack of care about my health.

This is basically a “Mom and Pop” operation that is dominated by a rude and dismissive receptionist/billing clerk named Mimi. The practice consists of the physician, the physician’s wife and Mimi whom is possibly the sister of the wife. Mimi is dismissive and rude to patients and barely acknowledges you upon entrance. She can be arbitrary and argumentative about payment and insurance coverages. The physician seems to not have a clue about his receptionist behavior.

The practice does not take credit cards, period. This includes Health Savings Account (HSA) cards; it’s cash or checks only. When I switched to Medicare Advantage insurance, I had to pay before I saw the physician. You can tell by Mimi’s attitude, that Medicare is not welcome insurance.

The office is difficult to reach, it is located in the second of the towers of Florida Hospital (Advent Health) on Orange Avenue. Parking is very inconvenient. Once you find a spot to park (many times on top floor), you have to take elevator to bottom, walk to Tower 2 and then take that elevator to office. Don’t forget to ask for a Parking Pass, because Mimi will not offer it.

The physician is basically a prescription writer and blood test orderer. Meaningful conversation is minimal. When my RA was in remission, he insisted I continue to take medication. In my opinion, these people really could care less about your health and are just in business to make money.

Dr. Sladek is all about prescribing drugs even if they can be fatal. My husband spent 30 days at FL Hospital suffering from side effects of Leflunomide that had been prescribed by Dr. Sladek. Even though Dr. Sladek has rights at FL Hospital and my husband's room was a 10 minute walk from his office, he only visited my husband twice. Towards the end (a weekend), staff at the hospital tried and tried to track him down to get some advice on how to proceed since they are not rheumatologists. My husband died. His death certificate listed 3 causes of death. All three causes have possible ties to Leflunomide. On our last visit to Sladek, I asked him if eating a low inflammation diet or a more holistic approach would be beneficial. Dr Sladek looked me in the eye and said, "He needs drugs." I guess that low inflammation diet would have also killed him? I am not passing judgement or giving advice. Just telling a true experience.

I have seen 4 other Rheumatologists in the Orlando area. He is by far the best Rheumatologist I have seen. He listened to me , was thorough in his evaluation and was open to thinking outside the box. His staff has always been very accommodating. I hope he never retires.

Ms Mimmie, Dr Sladeck’s up front assist is caring and helpful. She has contacted another Dr.in my behalf, tracked down outpatient labs, and given me encouragement in obtaining a certain medication. I appreciate this focused dedication. Thank you Mimmie. Rated by D.O.
