Dr Mrkonjic is dismissive and lacks empathy. I’m 16 weeks in recovery for a 12 week injury and she dismisses all questions and concerns I gave. I’m good to go back to work full time but not ready for physio?! Not impressed with this Dr at all.

Quite dismissive and not the best bed side manner. It seems that patient experiences vary, not consistent. Questions are thorough, but empathy was lacking. I arrived enthused to learn more, but left feeling discouraged and unsupported.

After reading many reviews I figured I still wanted to see her. The negative reviews pointed to her being too abrupt and not too communicative. I saw her today. We didn’t talk a lot. She explained my X-rays. I took a picture of my X-ray. She told me no surgery was required and she’d see me again in 4 weeks for a follow up. No driving and no weight on my bad ankle. She then noticed me crying and asked me what was my biggest concern. I told her I was so happy not to need surgery as we were flying to Mexico for Christmas. She said there’d be no problem with me going. On December 13 I should be able to start putting weight on my ankle. I’m so thankful to her.

Had a meniscus tear repair by Dr Mrkonjic. She was not forthcoming as to what she did, no info as to exercises after surgery, and was not in favour of physiotherapy. I had bloody fluid running down my leg for 3 days and after a call she told me to put a bandaid on it. It had soaked through the 3” of gauze she put on. Would definitely NOT recommend!

I had arthroscopic surgery with Dr. Mrkonjic after a very long road of trying to be "heard" by other sports medicine physicians. Dr. Mrkonjic was absolutely amazing. I found her to be extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, and professional. I am currently 8 weeks post surgery and I feel like I have my life back, all thanks to Dr. Mrkonjic who took the time to listen and understand that I had been living in constant knee pain for years. I am grateful for this surgery and I would recommend this physician to anyone.

Any questions I had for her were met with condescending responses about how she is the professional and she knows what she’s doing. I’m sorry but this is my body and if you are going to operate on me, You better be able to answer every single question I have.

The absolute worst doctor I have ever experienced. She refused surgery on my torn Achilles and casted it for months instead, which permanently atrophied my heal pad. I went to a ‘real’ orthopaedic surgeon and had my Achilles rebuilt but have permanent heal damage. Avoid her like the plague.

Firstly, I never write reviews, but after the exemplary service I received from Dr. Mrkonjic and her team at the Foothills Medical Centre I felt compelled to.
My orthopedic journey/nightmare started 11-years ago after a fall which broke my ankle on both sides resulting in immediate surgery and the installation of plates and pins. Fast forward to 2021, the hardware started to shift, and I began to experience pain in my calf and thigh. During Covid I was reluctant to burden the health care system and delayed a visit to my GP until May 4, 2023, when an X-Ray revealed that the hardware was in fact ‘moving around’.
I was referred to Dr. Mrkonjic who saw me within a week to review my file and x-ray. During my consultation, Dr. Mrkonjic took a personal interest in my file and my lifestyle which includes 2-4km walks every day. She advised me that my best option would be for me to have the hardware removed. On June 6, 2023, I had my surgery due to a last-minute cancellation and was very grateful to be offered the surgery slot.
The day of the surgery, Dr. Mrkonjic reviewed the surgical procedure and the post-op plan with me in plain language and provided me with adequate pain relief. Her surgical team was welcoming, professional, and empathetic to my nervous jitters as I entered the operating theater. Thanks to all of you!
Today, I had the staples removed by Dr. Mrkonjic and again was treated with professionalism, respect, and kind words of support. Hopefully, you will never need to have orthopedic surgery, but if you do you would be lucky to receive the services of Dr. Mrkonjic and her team.
