Seriously such an amazing amazing person and surgeon! He saved my life when I was diagnosed with Endocarditis and necrotic pneumonia and had less then a 3% chance to live. He, with other specialists, took on my case when a lot of doctors had written me off. After a 4 month long hospital stay he followed me knowing that there would be damage. So after trying different meds that weren’t working he repaired my tricuspid valve by 90% when it was supposed to be 50% only. During my surgery I had a HIT (heparin induced thrombocytopenia) which happens to 1% of patients. If it wasn’t for his experience there was a real chance that I would have died right there on the table. I can’t even imagine where I would be if he didn’t take on my case… realistically not on this planet. He is so caring and takes the time to explain everything so that you fully understand what he is going to do. His secretary is fantastic and really made sure to get my ADHD self to my appointments lol. Thank you Dr De Varennes seriously your an amazing person.

J'ai subi, le 17 octobre 2023, un remplacement de la valve de l'aorte effectué par le Dr. Benoît de Varennes et son équipe chirurgicale au CUSUM (Royal Victoria, site Glen). Il m'avait annoncé une sternotomie partielle avec incision de 10 cm; elle s'est avérée d'une longueur de 9 cm. Trois jours après l'opération (à l'heure prêt), on me donna mon congé et je suis en voie vers un rétablissement complet. Je suis convaincu que son expertise, combinée avec celle du personnel traitant au bloc opératoire, aux Soins intensifs et à l'étage (bloc D - 7ième étage) ont fait en sorte que cette chirurgie majeurs s'est si bien passée. Merci infiniment.

Dr. De Varrennes is an excellent doctor and cardiothoracic surgeon. Last February 2023, he performed an open heart surgery for me at the Glenn site of the McGill University Health Center. At the first meeting with Dr. De Varrennes, he immediately gave me absolute confidence that I was in good hands. Dr. De Varrennes and his team of doctors and nurses at the Cardiac Surgery department gave me the best care and services that a patient could expect. Post-operative services from the department also deserve excellent mention. Thank you very much.

Thank you Dr Benoit de Varennes for saving my life December 19 2021. You told me I have a choice, #1 Die or #2, have the Operation immediately just before Christmas to change my Aortic Heart Valve and add a Stench etc. Thank you again for Saving my Life rather than leaving for your well deserved Xmas Holiday. I played Golf all summer with my Son & Family. I thank You and Jesus and all the family and friends praying for me. I am feeling Great. Robert & Sylvie Tonge. Excellent surgeon Dr. De Varrennes did an open heart surgery on my husband replaced his aortic valve & within 4 days he was out of the hospital...caring & with compassion we would like to thank him & his wonderful team at the Glenn!
