I've found Dr. Rye's care and manner professional, knowledgable, and attentive, and since I'm not a particularly easy patient, I've been grateful for it. His staff has always treated me well and I've been able to get prescriptions refilled promptly. While the office sometimes runs a bit late, I know now to bring a book and rest. Since I feel like I'm getting really good care, it's worth the wait!

Some of the reviewers here seem to have a personal vendetta against Dr Rye. What I can tell you is that he is a very caring Dr and he has made it his life's mission to help those with difficult sleep disorders and has allowed some to live normal lives which wouldn't have been possible without his research. I am not saying he has the best bedside manner but he is definitely caring, knowledgeable and extremely helpful and gives hope to many.

Dr. Rye is an arrogant prick and really needs to improve his bedside manner. His staff is unhelpful (it takes FOREVER to get a response back from him or his nurse, and then they become rude and dismissive if you follow up). If Dr. Rye wasn't the leader in hypersomnia research, I would switch doctors.

Least helpful staff ever. Have seen Dr. Rye for a number of years and it is an obstacle to get every single prescription, referral, approval, or anything from them. They "leave messages" but I am doubtful they ever are read, and certainly never in a timely manner. Last time I spent over a month attempting to obtain an approval for my insurance. Have been left in a bind due to their inability (or perhaps unwillingness) to obtain necessary prescriptions. Dr. Rye is a research-doctor, he belongs in academia and not with patients. His staff, unfortunately, follow suit.

His assistants performed a minimal exam while he reclined in a chair and focused on repairing his mechanical pencil/pen. Rude and dismissive with his assistants, he only acknowledged me (the patient in the hospital bed) when he shared a laborious story about acquiring his favorite expensive Belgian chocolate. This "doctor" has the bedside manner of a bull-- perhaps dealing in chocolate would be a better profession for him.

I saw this doctor for sleeping problems. My first appointment was canceled by his secretary and she never called me back to reschedule it. So I had to wait for over 2 months to get back in and I work for Emory. First off I only met with him for 10 minutes. His associate was who I spoke with the most. He then prescribed sleeping pills for me to take and then to follow up with after a month. The pills did not work and he never returned any of my phone calls or prescribed anything else for me. His office staff is extremely rude and unhelpful. Sad that this trash works for Emory.

Did not return results for two months of constant calling, until complained to business manager. Still did not return results of laboratory test for seven months. This is the reason for the low punctuality and helpfulness rating; his in office performance is okay/good.
