Anyone who has a claim with WCB should NOT see this Dr. He is retired and is payed by WCB. He pretends to write things down but just puts ticks on paper. He is a complete WCB puppet. Beware of this retired DR. that lies. Look me up to get together for class action suit. 403 896 5336 Gail Mcelderry

WCB forced me to see Dr Reid also to discredit my doctors. He was late, he was ignorant and rude also to me. He was with me 20 minutes and thinks he is a miracle doctor, he is not, in fact there should be no place for his attitude anywhere near people. He swore under oath also , it does not mean anything to him to break this oath. He is also a liar, he told me I would be seeing others and having more tests done, as well as he was esculating my appt with Pain Managment Clinic, he did none of this. except discredit my doctors who I have seen now for 18 months due to my injury, and now it is a permanent mobility and spine issue. I would not let this ignorant man touch my cat if I had one, nor would I recommend him to anyone. He can be bought just like all the other IME doctors that WCB uses. To Dr Reid, you are not so slim yourself old man, and that is what happens when you are not able to get the exercise needed daily. You get big. Your are a dishonest doctor and I feel for anyone using you as their doctor. You are not the best, your a part of the WCB Cult Plan and that we all know is as crocked as crocked can be what they are allowed to do to injured workers. I did not have a choice but to see him or have my benefits denied, some choice hey. To date I am permanently disabled for the rest of my life thanks to no good doctors like yourself. Go back and look again because you obviously missed on properly diagnosing me. I will win my case anyway. No Thanks to you, I had hope at first that quickly went away when i see you in person for the 20 minutes, you need to add MIRACLE DOCTOR to your CREDENTIALS as you think you are. My doctors and surgeons have not misdiagnosed me at all.

I saw Dr. Reid after WCB referred me to him for a consult on my hip and back. A MRI showed a tear in my hip and I have been dealing with significant pain in my hip and upper and lower back pain since the injury.
The first thing he said to me was "I do not work for WCB, but they contract me". He was rude and interrupted me throughout the apt. Everytime I attempted to ask a question about my body, he interrupted me and said "I see you've been googling". I became emotional and was crying and he said "Youre an educated woman, I thought we could have a conversation without emotions". I felt belittled and unheard during the apt. He said "Most people your age have arthritis, so I'm not sure your pain is due to the accident, rather arthritis". When I tried to tell him I had never experienced pain in my hip prior to the accident. He just talked over me. He told me he was not going to examine my back because I had a pain specialist involved. He neglected to properly examine me, barely touching me asking "Does this hurt?"
At the end of the apt he said "Are we friends now?"

Dr. Reid was rude and unkind about my situation. I would not recommend him to anyone and absolutely would never see him again.

It sounds like there's been other people treated the same, so that provides some validation for my experience.

David C Reid is the "Independent Expert Physician on retainer to Workers Compensation Board of Alberta, who determined that pain in my shoulders is due to Arthritis and not the torn tendons and ligaments that bind my ACLs.
Maybe he went to school to become learned, but he discovered there's more lucre in selling credentials. He dismissed my real "job" injuries in favour of supporting the WCB narrative, "You are old and you have arthritis".

Complete hack bought and paid for by the insurance company. Said if it was him doing the surgery it wouldn't be done as most people in my demographic have the same injury, they just attribute it to aging as it happens over time. Where as mine was from an injury/impact. But referred me to another Doctor thank God as I would not let this man do surgery on any part of my body. Extremely rude dismissive and not worth the waste of time.

The nature of my visit with this doctor was for an assessment of injuries following a car accident. His was an opinion for hire made on behalf of the insurance company. Though his is labelled an "independent" opinion, it was certainly slanted toward the desires of the insurance company: so much so, that this doctor's professional conduct remains suspect in my mind.

My intake interview was scant and the history was non-specific toward my injuries... until he asked me if I would sell him my saddle horse for a gift to give his wife (WTH??). When I declined, he proceeded to tell me throughout my exam not to name any of my injuries or sites of pain specifically (ie: not to name the sites anatomically, as this would be too specific for his report). He failed to palpate or test any of those specific areas where pain was indicated, and commented that since I (a female) did not cry or scream, then I clearly was not in significant pain.
He made a point of omitting any of the locations where injuries were detected during the exam in his report, even those which he admitted verbally. The report even contains assumptions and stories about my life history that never occurred, and were never told to him (he actually made up for the benefit of his payors).

Not independent. Not ethical. Not professional.

I saw him through WCB as a IME. My experience with him and I'm going to be charitable.
His bedside manner was cavalier.

I have also had my share of unpleasant experiences with WCB Independent Medical Examiners. It's concerning that reviews left by injured workers for many WCB Doctors are all so similar. You may find the following info to be helpful. The following also appears on WCB's Website.

Fair Practices Office
This is a free-of-charge service provided to workers and employers who require assistance with their Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) claim file, including appeals to the Appeals Commission. Their representatives offer injured workers and employers advice, information, and representation during the appeals process.

The Fair Practices Office is separate and independent from the Appeals Commission and from the WCB.

The Fair Practices Office has offices in both Edmonton and Calgary and can be contacted at:
