I underwent 2 surgeries due to a work injury. The first was performed by a neurosurgeon with an impeccable reputation. After several months of physical therapy, the same surgeon believed a second surgery was necessary. Unfortunately, it was a workers comp case and the insurance carrier sent me to Dr. O' Shea for a second opinion. She proposed a surgeon that was less costly than the first surgeons proposal so workers comp transferred me to Dr. O' Shea 's care. I had a bad feeling about her diagnosis but had no choice but to allow her perform the surgery. The day after I experienced pain that was definitely abnormal. My symptoms\condition since then has gotten worse. I'm far worse off now than I was prior to her surgery. She doesn't listen or answer my questions but, again, it being a workers comp I'm stuck with her. If you can avoid it, find another neurosurgeon.

The first 2 doctors I saw said I needed major surgery. Dr O'Shea took the time to really review my problem and determined I only needed physical therapy. Granted, I was in PT for 6 months, but she was right! She is one of the top surgeons because she knows surgery is not the first option in many cases. I appreciate that.

I though this doctor was a top doc. It turns out, going to Joan O'shea was the worst decision of my life. I do not recommend her, I do not recommend her, I wish I would have went anywhere else.

Dr. O'Shea didn't listen to any of my concerns then told me she wasn't "here to diagnose my problem." She then submitted a medical report full of numerous inaccuracies about my current and past medical history. If you are under workers compensation do not go to this doctor.
