It took me 30 years to find her and not for a good reason. If this is the same Sharon Johnson who had an office in Maplewood back in the 30 years ago, all I can say is this:
She came highly recommended by my very light skinned girlfriend who claimed she was "the best doctor around for Black women." I guess that depended on your shade of blackness. As a deep hued young woman of 22 years old, I went to her. If this is the same Sharon Johnson who is tan with moles on her face and sported a short hair cut in the 1980s - then she's the same "doctor" who treated me with such a level of disdain that each time I had an appointment with her, I had a level of anxiety before and after leaving her office. Maybe it was the insurance I had, I don't know. All I know is that she was a HORRIBLE HUMAN BEING to me. When it came time and I went into labor - she finally arrived, dressed for a wedding and sucked her teeth and said "You would go into labor when I got my nails done and have a wedding to attend." And she wasn't joking. I in my youngness APOLOGIZED FOR INCONVENIENCING HER. She left me and the young, white doctor (who ironically, was my doctor at the clinic I had left to become "doctor Johnson's patient), Dr. G. attended to me. Due to the hospital's neglect, (a Filipino nurse told me to "shut up" as I screamed in pain) she had not checked to see that my baby was in my birth canal. Dr. G. came in livid that no one had checked me and that Sharon had abandoned her patient. My son was born with pneumothorax (a collapsed lung due to oxygen deprivation) and suffered all his life with a learning disability. All my other children were beautiful births. I went to her looking for a good doctor and found an aloof, mean-spirited colorist who didn't care for my kind. All my other kids were born healthy (because I didn't use her as a "doctor" ever again). My now grown child suffers from schizophrenia and I tend to wonder if the outcome would be different had I NEVER stepped into her office. It's taken me almost 31 years to find my voice on how cruel and unprofessional she was to me but that is the truth. If I could give her zero stars and 10 spittoons, she'd get the spittoons.
