Doctor Douglas Parkin is a wonderful doctor who listens and cares , without rushing you out the door , he makes you feel like were the only patient he had to see that day. with that being said , most of the staff in the office is really great also and friendly , however the office manager Madonna Dearie is very rude , judgmental and dishonest. My sister , who was a brand new patient , who had only yet seen him one time was contacted by Madonna claiming that the practice was dropping her because she had made appointments and had not shown up for them. I do know that this happened one time only and it was an honest mistake , she did not remember making the appointment and even apologized to Madonna . My sister is on AHCCCS and feels that Madonna looked down on her and treated her differently because of it. My sister searched and searched for a Doctor that she felt comfortable with and who was a good fit for her and she was very excited to finally find that in Doctor Parkin only to have Madonna tell her she was no longer going to be seeing him over one silly misunderstanding and she did not even give my sister a chance to explain or a transitional period needed to adequately transition her treatment plan and care that was outlined by Doctor Parkin to treat her serious conditions and is refusing . Madonna claimed the office policy was to give the patient a 30 day transitional period to get her medical records transferred or to get settled in with another Doctor. her insurance will not allow her to switch PCP's until that 30 day transitional period is over so she will not be in the care of a doctor and will not be able to have her medication continued , which she needs badly to control seizures in the mean time. Madonna will not allow her to see Doctor Parkin in that 30 day transitional period , which is ironically the practice policy to allow a patient that , so that she may continue to have much needed medical care in the interim until AHCCCS will allow her to switch PCP's. She has also told my sister that they will not even consider filling her medications so she will be without it until the insurance co allows her to switch so she is off her medication which she desperately needs to be taking. Apparently Madonna is not a Dr or a Nurse or any kind of medical professional she does not have the education to understand the importance of a sick patients continued medical care and continuation of medications which potentially save her life and I don't understand how she can make that judgment considering her only only medical experience is working as an office manager in a medical practice.
