Dr. Black is ok but his office is horrific, especially Chris the secretary who is extremely rude and condescending. They NEVER answer their phone and don't make appointments. You have to call everyday when the office is open at 08:30 to make an appointment. When you eventually get through miraculously the entire day is booked? There is another secretary and she is lovely but Chris should have been fired years ago!

Dr. Black has been my family doctor since I have been 18years old. I am now 56 and am very happy to say that he is a wonderful doctor. He is caring but has the experience to be realistic, he doesn't push meds, but will always refer to a specialist if needed. My husband changed over to Dr. Black just over 2years ago. He is very satisfied & feels that his medical needs are more than met by Dr. Black & his team. There are very few general practitioners left with his integrity, knowledge & care. I sincerely hope that he will not retire for a very long time!
btw we come in from Burlington to see this great team of care providers!

Dr. Black has been my doctor for a long time now, and has been my father’s doctor for as long as I can remember, he’s also my aunt and cousins doctor and I’m quite sure he was or is my grandmother’s doctor as well. Up until I was 23 I hardly ever had to see my doctor, but recently I’ve had some serious issues in my personal life that have triggered mental illness that I believe I’ve always had, just never sought attention for. I usually see the nurse practitioner Beth, and I can’t emphasize enough what an incredible woman and care provider she has been. She has helped me in uncountable ways and I’m so grateful to have her as medical support through this crazy time. In her recent absence, I had to see Dr. Black and he was very helpful and understanding too. They’ve been quick to get me referrals to other professionals that are appearing to be very critical to my recovery. Having in office mental health support is unexplainably wonderful, and my most recent counsellor Pauline was fantastic. I’ve yet to meet Jane, but I’m confident she will work diligently to help me as all of the other staff has as well. Chris and, I believe Jacqueline, have been incredibly kind during all my visits since this incident and always work hard to help me to the best of their ability. Reading a lot of these reviews, I’m sad so see people’s lack of compassion and understanding when it comes to Dr. Black’s absences from the office for “vacation”. Most of his time away was for Doctors Without Borders, and I feel it’s incredible that he’s involved with that organization and willing to offer his services to those in need. As Canadians I think we take our healthcare availability for granted. Imagine living somewhere where medical attention was near impossible to receive and having children and infants who need to see a physician. As for any vacations he takes personally, he’s worked his whole life, he has a family- would you ever work somewhere where you couldn’t take any vacation time ? I understand I could never know someone else’s pain they’re going through- but if a doctor cuts back your pain medication it’s out of care. I’ve seen many people be cut right off their medication with no weaning process, Dr. Black is definitely taking the right route by cutting down slowly. We live in a world where, unfortunately, too many doctors have been quick to prescribe opiates and painkillers to their patients and now we have an Opiod Crisis. Opiates are very harmful to your body and life, and are extremely addictive. I’m happy to see my physician cares about these very serious issues and doesn’t want to see any of his patients in a situation where they become enslaved to narcotics. Completely admirable and a very educated effort to keep his patients healthy and happy in the long run. Thank you to everyone at Dr. Black’s offic for everything they have done, and I’m confident will continue to do for not only myself but my family, and hopefully my future children when the time is right. I will be incredibly saddened when/if he retires: to see him go, and Beth, as well as the rest of his medical team.

after having the flu and i did, as well as our children, have the vaccine in november because my husband has serious health conditions and his cancer doctor highly recommended it..anyways, my flu turned into pneuminia and i dragged myself into see dr. black, he asked me three times why my face was so puffy....why dont you just ask me why i'm fat????why dont you ask me why i look so tired???anyways, through runny eyes, nose, wheezing, coughing, he perscribed an antibiotic, at the same appt. we went over my meds, he faxed them over to the drug store, but forgot to fax one that was very important to me...took two days hounding the office to fix his mistake ... no apologies for HIS mistake. Dr. Black's practise only survives because of his past practical nurses , sean, and now beth....they were are the best...i am also uncomfortable when chris and tina are whispering and than laughing, not professional at all, chris needs to enroll in a compassion education course when dealing with us patients

He rushes you through your appointment and always seems to tries to prescribe penicillin for every problem I have? Doesn't seem right to me.

I've been to Dr. Black for a long time, and never had an issue. With me, he's quick to refer to a specialist if he feels it's necessary - rather than try to mess around out of his area of expertise. He does seem to take a lot of time away these days, but he's had a few NPs that I have found helpful. The office staff are definitely lacking - there have been times when they have not been helpful.

not compasionate at all to my situation.just was more interested in getting me off my pain meds. that Dr. Black had given me for 11 years and now that I am dying of liver failure he choosses this time to reduce my pain meds. I cant believe he could be so uncaring after all this time. He would not even come in to talk with me and my wife, when he knew how upset I was.So guess I just have to stay at home and pass away in pain and my mother is also dying and now I cant even go be with her as my pain is too much to handle. I also had some vacation book ed with my wife as I feel this my be my last summer and now how am I going to manage this with less pain meds.I agree with all the rest of the blogs that Chris is very rude at times and she thinks she owns the office. I sad to say the I cant believe Dr, Black could do this to me after all he knows what I have been threw in the past 11 years.

Dr. Black has literally been my doctor since before I was born (he did my Mom's prenatal care while she was pregnant with me) and I now see him and his AMAZING nurse practitioner Beth for myself and my young son. They always listen and take concerns seriously without being alarmist. Beth is incredibly thorough and has become our primary care provider. I cannot say enough good things about them.

Dr. Black and his staff have gone above and beyond to care for myself and my family. Getting an appointment is not difficult and I haven't had to wait long to see Dr. Black. He listens to me and has been super with my children that are not always cooperative. His staff is very helpful and friendly. We feel very blessed to be taken care of by everyone in his office.
