Took me many years having her as my GP to realize how much I dread interacting with her. Judgemental, dismissive, whatever the opposite of punctual is...I seriously had no idea most people don't feel like they've done something wrong every time they talk to their doctor. Stay away if you have any sort of complex medical history - or at least refrain from sharing much about yourself.

I've had a few family doctors and after mine vanished, she took me in even though she wasn't taking new patients. She's super sweet, willing to listen and understand. She asks questions, not to demean, but to clarify. She also treats her patients like they're adults who know what they're talking about.

I have been a patient of Dr. Pienaar for nearly 4 years now, initially visiting her for mental health concerns. I was very apprehensive to try her, due to previous doctors often dismissing my concerns, rushing through the appointment without thorough assessment, or just prescribing medications without talking through treatment approaches with me. I never felt that any other doctor truly cared to understand what I was experiencing, and therefore I received a "treatment" that I didn't feel confident in and usually left feeling more helpless. Until I started seeing Dr. Pienaar. She takes her time talking with you and doing assessments to understand where you are at, with an empathetic and compassionate approach. I have never felt judgement from her, and for that reason I have since stopped avoiding my health concerns, both mental and physical, when they arise. She has worked with me to find treatment that works for me, and I would recommend her to anyone seeking a physician with a kind, gentle and holistic approach to their health.

More recently, I took my partner to see her. He had not been to see a GP in several years and was apprehensive himself after his own previously negative experience with physicians and health care professionals. She was thorough, compassionate and made him feel comfortable. When leaving, he told me he's never had a Doctor show genuine compassion for his concerns the way that Dr. Pienaar did. We are very grateful - Thank you Dr. Pienaar!

WORST doctor. Never on time. Even if you are the very fist appointment of the day she still manages to be late by at least a half hour (I guess her time is more valuable then yours), does not appreciate urgency at all. She is a part-time doctor in all aspects. Doesn't follow up (sent me for blood work, I never went, she never even noticed) clearly does not really go through her notes at the end of the day. Goes with what you think the problem is rather then actually diagnosing herself. I would NOT recommend her at all.

I have found her waiting times have improved over the last year. She is attentive when listening to my concerns. She engages in discussion for clarification and on my options. My concern is she does not seem to have a network of specialist that she can refer me to. I have seen her do a search on her computer to find a refer for me. A patient should have confidence in whom their Doctor is referring them to, for me its 50/50.

At first she presents nice...but does not even know my name...and I had to BEG for a surgical referral for years and lab test results....and now is stating that I am too demanding...yes, really

Terrible doctor, she literally said to me "I have many patients who have diabetes that come back to me when they are sick and say I never told them they had diabetes" what????? Does this sound like a competent doctor I don't think so. I immediately found another doctor after this.

Doctor Pienaar is the sweetest most caring doctor I have ever had, always comes up with a good and working solution to my problems, will be there for you with anything you're having issues with. Very knowledgable and genuine. You can tell she truly wants to help and is very caring. Anyone would be lucky to have Dr. Pienaar as a doctor.

Dr. Pienaar has been my family physician for many years. She takes time to listen to your concerns and is very through in her examinations, treatment suggestions, and explanations about procedures, test results or certain conditions. The office she now works in is very friendly and professional and I very seldom have to wait to see her after I arrive for my appointment - which is a welcoming change from the last clinic that she worked at.
I highly recommend Dr. Pienaar to anyone looking for a family physician.
